Angry Can I backup FF7 for PS1 and play on PC?

hi, im not very technically savvy, so bear with me if i say something that sounds stupid. I dont play a lot of games anymore, but I got the itch the other day to play final fantasy 7. popped it into the ol' playstation, nothing happened. long story short, the game cd's are fine, but the playstation is crapped.
I just got a new laptop, has a cd burner. What i want to know is if it is possible for me to make a backup or burn of the playstation final fantasy 7 discs and then play it on my laptop somehow. my brother told me this is possible with a modulater, but im not sure where to start or if its even possible. this is very frustrating since i dont want to buy a new playstation or playstation 2 to play one game and not that frequently.
any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
