USB cd drive emulator?

Hey guys,

I was thinking, for starforce protected games (SCCT, Trackmania sunrise) is there some way to fabricate a fake USB drive? After reading through some things on starforce, it simply says that any cd drive that is not on the mother board IDE channels (so if you go buy a IDE adapter for your PCI) will pass the starforce check.

So now I am wondering, how hard could it be to make a program that has its own driver and mounting tools that either a) told the computer it was on a seperate IDE chan or 2) told the computer that is was connected via USB?

Before people reply to this topic with things like "If you say how hard could it be, why don't YOU make it", trust me, if I could bust this out in VB (noob programmer, I know, I'm still getting into programming) I would have already.

But its just a thought.
