Well I guess it is kinda hope for the best when installing an emulator (N64 atleast). For me Surreal64 FDBv4 worked like a charm as soon as I edited the Surreal.ini file to have the right paths. Then I simply played the games.
Try clearing your cache folders too because if you have started a Surreal emu before the ini file will be saved and read from there instead of from the folder. So make sure the new ini file is always loaded by either clearing the whole cache or find the specific folder.
