Query: Playing import games.

I've been searching for a method which doesn't modify the console to play only imported games on my PS2 (PAL v12 - slim line). I have no intention of playing backup titles.
Does anyone know of a method that is guaranteed to work? I hear of swap-magic but that isn't exactly what I'm after.
