PS2 HDD questions - FileForums

Ok here is a dumb question, why do you need a network adapter for the PS2 HDD? Does the HDD connect the network adapter and then to the PS2? Does anyone know where I can get the Linux kit, where ever I go it says its not available in North America. And to clairify, I am a newbee. Im starting to get into all the PS2 stuff and am looking for answers. Thanks for the help so far
