If I remeber correctly the neo chip is a laser killer, and doesnt work on some games.
As snake mentioned, its time to upgrade to a newer ps2 and chip. For a newer chip I recommend a duo2. They are very good and reliable chips and will do direct boot on PS2 backups. If you want the high end features then go with a Matrix Infinity chip. Your V1 has to be close to laser death by now.
