DVD Detection Faliure

Hello friends,

I have bought a new Sony DVD writer recently.Everytime i start my computer it fails to get detected the first time. but later when i restart my computer it gets detected. Earlier when i had a Cd writer i did not have any problems like this. Can anybody tell what shall be the problem, and what i can i do to fix it because it keeps on irritating me.
