Glad I could help you out in that area.
 Now for the dvd problem. I use Roxio6 for my homemade dvd's and have had no probs ever. I tried Pinnacle Studio v8.0 and it had software conflicts with Roxio and I like roxio better so i deleted pinnacle. My system has been fine ever since. I would recommend it to you as well. It works great. For making a back up of DVD's you own, on the other hand, you may need programs like DVDshrink and DVD Decrypter. There are a lot of programs out there for making DVD back ups. These are just 2 of many. There are other members who can vouch for some of the other programs that also work good. Hope this helps you!
