DVD Labels

This may sound like an incredibly stupid question to most of you, so please bear with me. Does applying a DVD label (like the Memorex kits they sell in stores) affect the readability (short and/or long term) of a backup? I use Ritek G04s (Silver Shiny). Will my PS2 read it the same? Since I am on the subject…I was having trouble before with the quality of my backups and that’s when someone in this forum recommended I switch to the Ritek silver shiny. Since then I am coaster free. Does it matter if they are the silver shiny kind, or do the silver matte, Ridata branded, or white inkjet printable variety work the same.
