DVD Labels
This may sound like an incredibly stupid question to most of you, so please bear with me. Does applying a DVD label (like the Memorex kits they sell in stores) affect the readability (short and/or long term) of a backup? I use Ritek G04s (Silver Shiny). Will my PS2 read it the same? Since I am on the subject…I was having trouble before with the quality of my backups and that’s when someone in this forum recommended I switch to the Ritek silver shiny. Since then I am coaster free. Does it matter if they are the silver shiny kind, or do the silver matte, Ridata branded, or white inkjet printable variety work the same. Thanks for the help and patience.

It could affect the disc - avoid labelling the disc if you can...
|
The tricky part of labelling is getting them balanced. If they're off just the tiniest bit off they'll wear out the bearings in your DVD drive motor over time and kill it. I know blockbuster used to put labels on their disc and a bunch of people got new Ps2's because of it. Now they're labelless :P
Edit: In case I wasn't clear. Don't do it, just use a Sharpie. |
Can you just use a sharpie to write on any DVD, regardless of of the type of DVD it is?
