Nero
I too used Nero to back up the game, I was using Bulkpaq discs and had problems, but luckily I've got a re-writeable DVD disc made by Maxell which I use to test things I have problems with.
I used Nero with the same settings and copied it to my Maxell re-writeable DVD and had no problems whatsoever. I think the media type can affect certain games for some reason, I've got loads of other backups on Bulkpaq DVD and they are fine, but some just don't work very well at all.
