Help needed with Indiana Jones
Is anyone else having problems getting a backup if Indy to work? I'm using Nero which has never given me trouble along with media that has never given me trouble. On my first try I got an error message during burning. The game boots to the PS2 logo and then stalls at a blank black screen.
My second attempt had no error messages and goes to the PS2 logo screen but then it goes to the browser screen (!) and there's a gold PS2 disc sitting their along with my memory cards. I clicked on the disc and it goes to the logo screen and then right back again. What gives?! |
Use RecordNow Max.....
Made a perfect backup of this game..... |
Nero
I too used Nero to back up the game, I was using Bulkpaq discs and had problems, but luckily I've got a re-writeable DVD disc made by Maxell which I use to test things I have problems with.
I used Nero with the same settings and copied it to my Maxell re-writeable DVD and had no problems whatsoever. I think the media type can affect certain games for some reason, I've got loads of other backups on Bulkpaq DVD and they are fine, but some just don't work very well at all. |
No offence or anything but Bulkpaq basically Suq in a big way.
If u don't believe me try GTA Vice, Max Payne or TS2 on em an get em to run perfectly then leave em for a month an try to get em to run perfectly again. Regards |
They also light colour write surface which will strain ur ps2 laser an reduce its lifespan.

Media
Otty,
What media would you recommend? Cheers, Steve |
I always use Traxdata 4X but any dvd-r that uses ritek dark purple dye should be okay.
DVDMaster - Ritek Branded - Clonedisc - Traxdata should all be fine. |
Otty, thanks for the reply, but I was reading through some more posts and came across this which you posted earlier in the year, and it seems you were having problems with the discs you just recommended???
Is that right or am I missing something? Steve I'm a bit threaders with this!!! I use DVDMaster X2 dvd-r ( ritek dye) and Traxdata X1 dvd-r ( rytek dye) and have had no complaints until now. A While back i backed up GTA Vive ( as i'm sure everyone has!) and then used my back-up to create another back-up ( verifying my back-up). A couple of weeks ago I dragged down my backup and tried it in my ps2. It had all sorts of dvd reading problems. I checked the write surface and fiund amidst the write part a load of lighter purple blotches. the dvd-r had lost the write I put on it. This was on DVD Master dvd-r. I decided to go through the rest of my dvdMaster back-ups and found about 50% of them had developed these patches. I then went on to check my traxdata and found a similar problem with them. Now I know that the burn is initially good cos u can take a back-up off the burn but after a couple of months???? Has anyone else experienced this on what r meant to be the dogs testicles of dvd-r?? Luckily I had also backed up onto Bulkpaq G4 dvd-r and although the ps2 don't like em the Pioneer 104 could read the image again no problem!! Any thoughts? And yes, I do also have the originals!! |
Gash writer m8ee. Was using a pioneer 104 which seemed to have developed a fault an wasn't burning correctly.
Now use a pioneer 106 an no problems at all. I started using bulkpaq even though everyone else salted me and them severely. My first few backups were fine but started to get problems with more complicated games. GTA Vice city, Time splitters 2, Max Payne, Conflict desert storm to name a few. They seemed to burn fine but when I tried them in my version 5 ps2 they would take for ever to load or not load at all. When I brought it up here I got "Told u so" an was given the same advice as I've given u. Always use dark write surface dvd-r for ps2 games as the ps2 dvd laser has a lot easier time reading them due to increased reflectivity using Ritek coloured dye with a ps2 laser. However I did have a problem with burning all dvd-r for a while. They all seemed to have light patches on the write surface after burning. Took same files an blank dvd-r to m8's ps2 and burned on his 104 perfectly so binned burner a while back an got 106. This still doesn't change the fact that any experienced ps2 dvd backuper on this forum will give u the same advice.# Regards m8ee. Hope this clears up the confusion. ps. Yes, the dvd writer could still read the bulkpaq images back in but it probably had a lot better laser in it than the cheap ps2 laser. |
