dramatic transfer speed increase?

When I ftp to my xbox and get files from the dvd drive, I usually get a speed of about 1.9mb/s. But, if I unplug the network cable before I turn on my xbox, then plug it back in after evolutionX loads up, my transfer speed launches to a whopping 4.5mb/s. I've alternated between unplugging, and not unplugging about 10 times. The conclusion is always the same.

I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this. It seems that there are alot of poeple with slow transfer rates. Could this be a possible solution? Does anyone want to try doing this at all and tell me if they get the same thing?
