If the disc is only 1X capable, that is all it will burn at...(There are a few exceptions)
If you are using RecordNow Max to burn with, you can set it to burn a whatever you want, but after the disc initializes, it will default back to what the disc will allow..... Just watch the time on RecordNow for about the first 2-3 mins.... It will say something like 16 min left.... The all of a sudden it will go to 49 min left.... These numbers are just to give you an idea of how much the time will change...
