Copy protections

this probably has been asked before but I didn't find anything about it so here's my quest.

The new FADE protection has hit the PS2 scene, this is a pest as ur game apears to have copied fine but as u progress through the game the game degrades to a point where it can no longer be played, patches should (hopefully) become available soon to combat this.

» do these protections only effect DVD to CDR rips or also DVD to DVD 1:1 copy's & what modchip handles these protections the best?
