Copy protections

this probably has been asked before but I didn't find anything about it so here's my quest.

At present there are 2 types of protection:
EASport CD-Rom titles are protected and depending on which chip you have you may need to patch these titles.
The new FADE protection has hit the PS2 scene, this is a pest as ur game apears to have copied fine but as u progress through the game the game degrades to a point where it can no longer be played, patches should (hopefully) become available soon to combat this.
» do these protections only effect DVD to CDR rips or also DVD to DVD 1:1 copy's & what modchip handles these protections the best?

EA protection on CD based games are no problem. Just use Clone CD and a 100% compatible burner.....

FADE protection applies to dvd rips.... Since I don't make it a practice to rip games I'm unsure if they have a fix for this or not.. Maybe someone else can help out on this....

ANY of the "direct boot" chips work perfect with these protections....(provided the backup was created correctly)

Sorry to butt in............. so if you have a DVD rom with fade protection and you back it up onto dvdr correctly and you have a messiah chip fitted you don't have to worry about fade protection???? define copying dvd rom correctly??!!

FADE protection does not affect a DVD-R backup of a game. It only affects a dvd rip to cd-r...
So to answer your question, NO..... If you have a backup of a dvd based game that has FADE protection and you put it on a DVD-R, you don't have to worry about it....

Copying a dvd correctly is exactly what it means.... If you don't copy it correctly, it won't boot, so then you wouldn't have to worry about the protection either...
Basically what I was aiming at with that statement, is IF it was done correctly, you will have no problems.... If the game didn't boot, people would blame it on the protection instead of the backup method....

Ta for the clarification BG. Thought fade protection was dvd to dvdr so am pleased to discover that it doesn't affect anything. When u mentioned copying correctly thought that there might have to be some particular settings to copy a fade protected game. Am pleased to hear that fade won't bother pioneer A04 owners................

Yeah.... You have no worries.... There aren't very many games that have it anyway....AND I beleive (don't hold me to this) that there is a patch that takes care of FADE protection on dvd-rips....

Its like I've always said...... You can protect anything you want, BUT someone WILL break it.......
Its just like DVD-9..... When DVD-9 movies came out, they were supposed to be uncopyable.... YEAH RIGHT.......
Same goes for the DVD-9 PS2 games, someone will break them also, it just takes a little time....
