As far as what media works best is a matter of preference....
I use Princo branded white label dvd-r's..(The ones that say Princo on the top, not just the blank white labels) They work great for PS2 games and DVD movies, and they are cheap... You can get 100 of them for $100.00.  Traxdata DVD-R's are great, but they are hard to get because none of the suppliers ship to the US....  Of course you can always use the BIG brand names, ie..Verbatim, Apple, etc, but they are expensive... I would suggest ordering a pack of 5 to see what your equipment likes the best, then you can order more quantity...
