Playing Ps1 Games On Ps2

HOW DO I PLAY NTSC PS1 BACKUPS ON MY PLAYSTATION 2, I HAVE GOT A NEO 2.2 CHIP FITTED AND ALSO I AM USING A DVD REGION X?
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED AS I AM NEW TO THIS
