CD-R dye color quality; affect CD-r lasers?

I just bought a $10.00 50 pack of Primaris 16x CD-R's (Primaris is a sub-company/branch of of Imation) with a green tint, and I'm having second thoughts on using them on my new CD-R. Before doing anything with them, I was wondering if someone can answer a question for me:

I know that the green backed ones (Cyanine dye) are the cheapest quality, but it doesn't matter because, well, I got what I paid for. BUT, I heard that green backed CD-R's can damage your CD-R Rom's laser lens, is this true?? (It's said that the green backed ones emit an invisible gas when it reaches a certain temperature that can damage your lens.)
