Which recordables to use?

I'm sort of a newbie in burning PS2/PSX backups. So can anyone tell me which DVD/CD media I can or can't use?
The model no. of my PAL PS2 is SCPH-30004-R. I believe it has something to do with the version of the PS2, wether you can use DVD RWs (CD-RW) or not.
Please help!
