New to this stuff

Hi all. I'm considering buying a PS2 (for my kids.......YA right!!!!)
I also would like to know how mush equipment is needed to ummmm well shall we say "test" games

Is there a link in here for newbies so i could read up on it. I "test" several Driect to home satelites so that might help me to catch on to this quickly...I hope
