Reading issue

I have a discovered a little thing latley.
My ps2 reads backups cd-r, DVD-r just fine, also original ps2 games.
but if I pu in a original dvd movie and start up then it will go so far that I start to see the electrons before the screen go black and show "PLAY" in upper right corner.
Ok, the elecrons only shows up, don't so long that they start to swirl.

but as I said, with all my dvd-r and original ps2 it starts as fast as it should.

any suggestions why it only effects the original dvd movies?
a dvd movie backuped on dvd-r starts as it should. so it seems like it struggles abit to read the original discs...

it sounds like your laser may be on its way out.. try running a lens cleaner through it... this should be done weekly or at least monthly to keep your laser clean and give it a longer life.. i know your originals work fine but after long use on a dvd movie it may be killing the laser.. you may also want to consider buying a dvd player for movies, thus saving your laser even more (dvd players can run u $50 or lower)..
try it out and save your laser!
PS: try using Ritex G04 dvd-r discs.. they are amazing and at an even betr price!

yes, 98% of my backups is on Ritek G04 dvd-r discs.
I'm going to buy a dvd player not sure when. Gonna move to another town soon so need all money I can spare for that right now.
Gonna run the lenscleaner today. even polish my dvd's and see if that helps.
When it start reading the disc no skipping at all occurs so it seems it just have a little hard time to focus the disc the first time.
even focusing the different menus and stuff takes no time at all.
Hope it will last for awhile more.. can afford to buy a new one yet.
I'm thinking of getting the HDloader instead, then the laser only need to read the hdloader disc. that way the console should be able to last for some time more. or els I just save up for a new one with a matrix infinity in it.

I wouldnt worry about it to much dustpuppy, Dvd-r is usually the first to go when the laser is on its way out. I would not use the console for dvd movie playback, Its easier and cheaper to buy a DVD player than to replace the PS2 laser

I know, thats why I got little confused that is only on original dvd movies that it has a hard time to start up in time.. I saw that I can see the browser meny almost show up.. but the same movie on dvd-r starts up before the electrons.. well.. as I said, gonna but a stand alone dvd player as soon as I can.

If my laser go then I probably not gonna replace it, I will buy a new console instead.. I have a v5 so it is a few years now and the new ones don't sound like a F-16.
