DVD burner can only read CD-Rs
Ok, here's what happened:
I gave my PC to a friend to install a new hard drive & when I got my system back, my DVD burner can only read CD-Rs! No DVDs or DVD-Rs! If a DVD is in the drive, it acts like it doesn't exist. Unfortunately my friend is away for about a week & I have no way to get in touch with him to ask him what he did. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drive in Device Manager, I've tried unhooking the cables from the drive, restarting Windows & then hooking it back up as well as any thing else I could think of & no dice. Has anybody else had this problem & knows how to fix it? For what it's worth, I'm running XP Pro & my burner is an LG 4040b. If you require more info, let me know. Please email me Thanks!

He may have changed your jumper settings. Check to make sure your burner is set as master.
