Cool, thanks for that seeing as they are then 1:1 copys do you still have to have a mod chip to play them and if so do you know why that is? It would be great to be able to make copys that play without a modchip.....but maybe im dreaming.

yep it would be great if needed no modchip but that aint going to happen, but you can play backup cd's without modchip by doing the knife swap trick, but i strongly do NOT recommend it as u will mess up ur machine, but if still interested use the search on top of forum for knife trick but believe me u will regret it in the end, a modchip is the way to go but get a self boot chip hope this helps

ok, that half answers my question. I need a modchip to play ALL ps2 backups even if they are 1:1 copys. Now does anyone know why that is? im just curious.

I highly recommend you don't do the knife trick. You will just trash your PS2. It is alot cheaper to buy a chip then it is to buy a new ps2.

sony has a speical burner thats not to the plubic that burns bad spots on cds which the ps2 looks for so there for u would need a burner like there to make 100% copies with no mod u can always ask them how much they would sell one for i know there not the only peps that have them cause gameshrak dose the same with there cds and there not sponcered or endorsed by sony n any way so they had to get there burner somewere

It is not a special burner they use. The disc that games are put on have a code pressed into them when they are created. This code can not be duplicated by any burner. You need a mod to trick the ps2 to to thinking the code is there.

Apart from the possible damage to your ps2 using the knife trick
since sony added the double disc read feature the knife swap doesn,t work on the v7's anyway.
