Is there such software?

:D:D:D:D Does anybody know of a software programe that does 1:1 copys (like clonecd for ps1) for the ps2? i knows its still early days but i was just hoping :D:D:D:D

scamper 15-01-2003 21:33

yes for ps2 cd based games clonecd or disc juggler and for ps2 dvd games primo or recordnow max (but need dvd burner) :D

Above_the_sky 15-01-2003 21:38

Cool, thanks for that :D seeing as they are then 1:1 copys do you still have to have a mod chip to play them and if so do you know why that is? It would be great to be able to make copys that play without a modchip.....but maybe im dreaming. :D:D:D

natobreaks 15-01-2003 21:39

you will need a modchip to play your backups.

scamper 15-01-2003 21:46

yep it would be great if needed no modchip but that aint going to happen, but you can play backup cd's without modchip by doing the knife swap trick, but i strongly do NOT recommend it as u will mess up ur machine, but if still interested use the search on top of forum for knife trick but believe me u will regret it in the end, a modchip is the way to go but get a self boot chip hope this helps

Above_the_sky 15-01-2003 21:47

ok, that half answers my question. I need a modchip to play ALL ps2 backups even if they are 1:1 copys. Now does anyone know why that is? im just curious.

play any game no mod

u can play any cd or dvd game with no mod chip using the knife trick above u just gotta do it different for dvd

scamper 15-01-2003 22:01

sry i thought i put in dvd's aswell i guess not, but still i strongly DO NOT recommend it

derek in aus 15-01-2003 22:35

???

how dose it mess up the machine what damage dose it do???

bighap 15-01-2003 22:55

I highly recommend you don't do the knife trick. You will just trash your PS2. It is alot cheaper to buy a chip then it is to buy a new ps2.

derek in aus 15-01-2003 23:12

I've seen lots of posts about mod chips and stuffed ps2's but I have'nt seen any post where someone killed their ps2 doing the knife trick

UrrBodyH8sMe 15-01-2003 23:14

maybe away

sony has a speical burner thats not to the plubic that burns bad spots on cds which the ps2 looks for so there for u would need a burner like there to make 100% copies with no mod u can always ask them how much they would sell one for i know there not the only peps that have them cause gameshrak dose the same with there cds and there not sponcered or endorsed by sony n any way so they had to get there burner somewere

bighap 15-01-2003 23:50

It is not a special burner they use. The disc that games are put on have a code pressed into them when they are created. This code can not be duplicated by any burner. You need a mod to trick the ps2 to to thinking the code is there.

Apart from the possible damage to your ps2 using the knife trick
since sony added the double disc read feature the knife swap doesn,t work on the v7's anyway.

i've ruined 2 ps2's trying the knife trick:eek:
