Toca Race driver 3 won't work with images
Hi. I bought Toca Race driver 3 today.
(it's out here ..)I always make a backup image so the disks don't get scratched or dirty fingers on them.(well..besides those one or two i put on it). But the game won't start.. it says it can't find the original disk. could you guys help me out? after a bit of searching i noticed that there is an illegal release as well..but detaching the IDE cables is not something i wanna do everyday and i kinda think it's a bit harsh. pls..help me out. |

Since the current DVD burners can not burn DVDs in RAW mode, you can not make a 1:1 copy of anything protected With Starforce, Safedisc, Securom, etc. So you have to resort to virtual drives.
As far as I know, there is only one virtual drive NOT blacklisted by the Starforce version used on Toca 3 (v3.7.13), i.e. Daemon Tools 4.03 (although the SF website claims something else). The only problem left is getting around the general SCSI drive blacklisting. For Safedisc and Securom, you can use free anti-blacklisting tools like CureROM, but Starforce thought it was needed to infiltrare a little deeper in your computer. Versions until 3.4 can be easily circumvented by using Starforce Nightmare, but since v3.5, SF has improved this blacklist by digging even deeper into your OS and hooking several system drivers functions (in v3.7 also your usb drivers), probably causing even more incompatibilities, especially with future Windows versions or other system upgrades. So how to get around all this crap ? That seems to be hardware dependent: for some system configurations, you do not have to disconnect anything. These are the solutions you should try first (only 1 at a time, of course): - use Starforce Nightmare to hide the optical drives - disable your optical drives in the Windows hardware manager - disable your optical drives in the BIOS If none of these work, you will have to physically unplug them. Edit: You can find more info about this on the Daemon Tools forum, nicely explained by NetSoerfer: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/t757...-tools-v4.html Last edited by The-S-Owl; 22-02-2006 at 04:18. |

Well there a two ways to get around Starforce, some like SCCT need the backup(DVD+-RW) to be run from a DVD-ROM/RW drive in a USB 2 caddie.
Others like King Kong, POP T2T and recently TOCA Race driver 3, can be run in a DVD-ROM/RW drive connected via IDE and again on a DVD+-RW. Nothing else required, no need to disconnect anything, no need to run anything either, but you will need an Nforce 4 mobo.

Disabling the drives doesn't seem to work either

I never said an image, I said burned to a DVD/RW. I also said no drives need to be disabled/unplugged as well. What's the big deal with using images anyway? If it can be backed up to a disk, then your still not using the original.

True..but it would still find the mounting software(Daemon tools) and wil not run the game. not even using anti blacklist software

Hi there !
I bypassed Starforce as mentionned above : using VirtualDrive, tick "Disable IDE CD-ROM" in "Tools", mount with Daemon Tools 4.03HE and just run the game. BUT, I get a problem when loading a race. Some are working (Professional mode or something like that), but the "Around The World" mode puts me an Austrian circuit on loading screen and then just crashes, back to Windows. Any idea ? Thanks in advance

It seem that if you only have one h.d and nforce4 the game works ok. The problem seems to be for other nforce users is the raid controller.
Starforce can tell if there's anything on the end of it. No raid, no problem. It works for me fine without unplugging, just disabling pata controller in device manager is all that's required. Athlon 3800+ Gigabyte ga-k8nxp-sli 160g hitachi sata-2 (jbod) 1 gig corsair xms3200 |

sigh, trying to contact the cracker is incredibly unlikely...
if there are other cracks for starforce games, check gamecopyworld or the other sites listed in the faq

Hi, last time I changed my mb, I bought and ASUS P5LD2, with Intel chipset 82801G (ICH7 Family) and it works without unpluggin the drives, the previous motherboard didnt worked without unpluggin the drives (it was ASUS A8V Deluxe (AMD) with Via chipset). I think SF has implemented some ways to get into the chipsets, but newer ones are now "inmune" to it xD.
So, if you have latests intel chipsets, at least, you can play ![]() I've other games with SF (scct ie) and it works too. I hope starforce will never be used again in games ![]() Bye! |
