Exclamation Sims 2 CD to DVD Backup.

alright after spending a few minutes ive figured a rudeimentary solution on how to put it onto dvd..

first copy all the cds to your hard drive.

go into each folder and extract the compressed.zip file to /compressed

copy the /tsdata/control/controlX.dat, where x is 1-3, to the cd1 folder.
make sure that u do that for each of the 3 files.

after u have extracted out the compressed.zip files combine them all into one folder, make sure that u keep directory structures.

open up the common_filelist.txt and make it look like this.

1,1,sims2_uninst.exe
1,1,eauninstall.ico
1,1,TSBin\1.0.0.932
1,1,TSBin\Sims2.exe
1,1,TSBin\Sims2.exe.bak
1,1,TSData\Res\*.* /s
1,1,TSData\Sys\*.* /s
1,1,Support\*.* /s
1,1,eauninstall.exe
1,1,TSData\Control\control0.dat
1,1,Sims2.ico
1,1,CSBin\1.0.0.932
1,1,CSBin\PackageInstaller.exe
1,1,CSBin\properties.txt
1,1,CSBin\TS2BodyShop.exe
1,1,TSData\Control\control1.dat
1,1,TSData\Control\control2.dat
1,1,TSData\Control\control3.dat

i have added the no cd crack to the tsbin folder so that it automatically installs, but i have renamed the original exe and had it copy over. this way after install u can click play game now and it will succesfully launch the game.

test burn with RW.

The correct and "universal" way to pass to DVD can be found on CdSTeam on this post.

Feel free to translate into english to make it universal (cause it is a little variation of this one above)

CdSTeam.

Thks Okmk1 first to make this possible.

TIP: This is a modified method and maybe more explained from this one.

i've followed the guide(s) posted here and i am having problems.

i started with what was originally posted by last_caress however i couldnt get that to work at all, although i did follow what he was doing. i translated the german guide that lowcast posted, using freetranslation.com, my own basic german skills, and filling in the gaps with what last_caress did, et voila, the game installed.

the game loads up (to the menu), however when i go to actually play it i can not leave the menu. going to 'Learn to Play' gives me a list of tutorials, when i select one and press 'Play' it does nothing but take me back to the main menu. when i go to 'Select Neighbourhood' there are no neighbourhoods there, it just tells me where to copy them to when importing Sim City 4 cities.

i reinstalled the game from my 4 CDs and it works fine. so from my DVD backup either not all files are being copied to hard drive, or there is a file index somewhere that is making the game look in the wrong place.

my common_filelist looks like this:

1,1,sims2_uninst.exe
1,1,eauninstall.ico
1,1,TSBin\1.0.0.932
1,1,TSBin\Sims2.exe
1,1,TSData\Res\*.* /s
1,1,TSData\Sys\*.* /s
1,1,Support\*.* /s
1,1,eauninstall.exe
1,1,TSData\Control\control0.dat
1,1,Sims2.ico
1,1,CSBin\1.0.0.932
1,1,CSBin\PackageInstaller.exe
1,1,CSBin\properties.txt
1,1,CSBin\TS2BodyShop.exe
1,1,TSData\Control\control1.dat
1,1,TSData\Control\control2.dat
1,1,TSData\Control\control3.dat

(last_caress's list, without the original exe backup)

and all files from the compressed.zip files have been put into the TSBin and TSData folders as described in the german guide.
everything seems to be there as my install is 2.73gb big (listed as 2806mb in Add/Remove Programs) so its either missing something small, or looking in the wrong place

any one else found this? any help or advice?

Im almost positive Morglum007 has the conversion on his site, its in Spanish but using your translation program you should be able to work it out. I was going to do a translation of Sims 2 for him but I'm gonna skip it as you guys seem to be just about there with it. Morglums is at cdsteam

Hopefully this will get you there: http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...c1674b019a5f3b

Whoohoo my linked worked! Didnt look like that when I pasted it! This will take you to the sims 2 link but as I've put it thru Babelfish it comes out in English. (Still have to work out a few Spanish words Tho)
Hmmm it now appears that 'okmk1' has used 'Last Caress's version but put in more detail, okmk1 acknowleges this. Alos Morglum acknowledges this on page 1 of this post. Whew confusion reigns. Luckily this game doesnt interest me so I wont be needing to put it on DVD.
