PS2 not reading cds

Hi everyone, it's been a long time since my last post.... to make the story short... My kids dropped the PS2 again (for the third time ). The Cd tray got stuck again (like before). I opened the PS2 and fixed the Cd tray. now, the PS2 is not reading any CD anymore. I took the PS2 apart again and tried to see if I'm missing some connections but everything is plug in.

One thing I've notice is the CD is just going to spin a little bit then stopped. On the laser, is it always on? I mean I tried to look at the lens (not directly just on the side). I've noticed that the lens will turn on (bright red) then turn off immediately after powering on.

Any ideas? did I screwed the unit more? LOL

Thanks in advance.
P.S. I think my PS2 is a version 4

with regards to the lens... is this the normal behavior?? does the spindle spins before the lens or it will only spin if the lens detect a cd... at least it would help to isolate which part to check before take apart again.

what I'm assuming is if the spindle only spins if the lens detects a Cd/DVD then at least, Im just going to check on the lens up to the flat cables (hopefully I did not broke any flat cables)

EDIT: Im going to try to play some music cd later when I get home... Im assuming if i can play CDs but not PS2 DVD then the DVD lens is history
is that correct assumption?

Droped by Pop

I have dropped my PS2 too many times to count, but its built like an M1A2 Abhrams Main Battle tank. ie indestructible. I have the first production run model made, which I preordered. Never even had to clean it or anything.
I guess I could be just fraggin lucky! Id send it in to a repair firm or you could order a new lens assembly. Could you just need a lens cleaning and alignment??

Good Luck
