Problems DNAS patching on v12 & cc chip

Ok, I just finished modding my 1st ps2 and all seems well. I put in a crystal chip with v1.4 hacked firmware and it boots my backups as expected (ps1 originals, ps1 backups, ps2 originals, ps2 backups). It's a slimline v12 pstwo.

I thought I would give a try at DNAS patching but no matter what I do I can't even get the Disk ID Utility (AKA DNAS H4xor from Paradox) to load. I've burned the tool to CD (haven't tryed DVD) more then a handfull of times, on a few different types of media but it's still a no go. All that happens is a black screen with no text and the disk stops spinning.

I've tryed unplugging the memcard (to avoid loading BM), with the BM, modchip disabled mode, and even let the ps2 load the browser first. In the browser it shows the cd as a blue logo that I assume means it can read it and recognizes it as a ps cd.

I've tryed downloading the tool from different places, and even tryed the fontmod version.

How oh how can I get this tool working? Does it not work with my setup? I've read people boot it with swap magic then put the diskid tool in but I'm not about buy swap magic when I already have a modchip

I don't know anyone else in my area with a moded ps2 and I won't be modding anyone else's so using another system to get the id is out of the question. Unless it's possible with a PS2 emulator for the computer!

Besides all this I have another quesiton. I need the modchip on when loading the tool, but off when getting the disk ID correct?.. How is this possible with CC since it requires that you press reset 6 times to shut off the modchip. I'm starting to wonder if I should have gotten a MI chip instead

Thanks

6 times you gotta hit reset?? thats messed up. but anyway, w/ all the issues ive been having getting the toxichdl to load, i tried to boot up my diskid util an it booted 1st time out. then put ps2 disc in and got the id. i didnt need to turn off the chip, and u shouldnt either cuz like you said i dont think that'd be possible.
