Change of plan - the 117 won't read in raw mode (bugga). Does anybody know a dvd-rom which does?

does this mean the A05 is good for writing CD based games too? i was thinking of geting one of them $30 52x lite-on's for doing CD's but if the A05 is just as good i wont have to buy it.

Yes... It will.....

Although if I were you, I would spend the $30 bucks and get a seperate drive.... It will save the additional wear and tear on your expensive A05 and only cost you 30 bucks more.... ALOT better wearing out a 30 dollar cd burner than wearing out a 200-300 dollar dvd burner.....

Just my opinion...

Try finding a Toshiba dvd-rom. They are the best and are 100% clone cd compatable meaning they read all sub channel data for copying cd games although the Pioneer dvd-r writers will not write RAW-DAO-96.I use a toshiba dvd rom with my pioneer A03 for dvd-r burning, for cd games i use a 100% clonecd compatable sony cdrw. The pioneer burners are usless for copy protected cd games.

It may read in RAW and copy some cd games but it doesn't read RAW-DAO-96 which is required to make 1:1 backups.

Well, I've copied Harry Potter (chamber of secrets) and Star Wars racer 'revenge' @ 12x using datasafe media on my 105.

Hull, see if the A05 will allow you to read sub channel data.

Well according to the new clonecd 4.1.01 my A03 will read and write sub channel data but i know for a FACT that it dont support this. I will do a little research on this and see if it is something that is software corrected.
