Creative 4424 burners don't do playstation...
Creative 4424 burners don't do playstation copying unless you change the firmware for that of a JVC writer. As long as the firmware is Creative, you will never get a good PSX backup.

I have a PSone with 6 wire stealth chip, and I use Verbatims a lot and have never needed to use the boot disk. Are you sure your writer is making good copies ? if possible try them in another psx.

If I remember correctly (help if I'm wrong anyone...) this can be caused by having a bad or missing connection on pin 5. Try it, and check all you rother connections whilst your at it.
