starting out... can someone please help!?

I'm just getting a dvdr and it's coming with no software... can someone tell me what I'll need to do to backup my dvds? I'd like to back them up with the best sound/video quality possible on one...

best no solder mod chip??

i'm going to buy a new ps2 tomorrow if the stores are open. can anyone tell me the best mod chip i can get without having to take apart my ps2 or at least without having to solder any wires?

they fit on a 700 mb disk? I have a movie that's 724 mb. Anyway to get it to fit on a normal 700 mb disk?

I have a ps2. It's not under warranty anymore. I've had it for over a year or so now. It quit playing dvds a while back. It gives a read disc error when I try. I didn't really think too much...

2 Qs. is there anyway to backup a cd that reads like a real cd so i dont have to

get a cd fix for the game? when i burn cds, it always asks for the cd when the burnt copy is in the cdrom.

and is there a cd fix for ghost recon around? if so, where?
