BUT ... it may somehow be possible.. if its a data dvd... video DVD's then... well... you might be able to get a DVD Ripper...

i havnt needed to do that in ages but from memory you change the fileset to... iso... or something like that. play around in Nero Burning Rom (with the label options)

i live in New Zealand, and so far, i havn't seen many high quality cd-rs out here, with the exception of Kodak Gold. The next best thing is TDK and verbatim, but decent TDK's here are $5 a pop!...

If your PSX is a model 100x or 300x (NetYarozee) then it might be old and in need of a new lazer unit/repaired lazer...
