burning question...
when backing up certain games that are of a smaller size, I notice a ring on the bottom of the riteks..(a part shiner on the outer part of the dvd-r and a part dimmer on the inner part(i suppose its the burnt part?) )
would there be any advantage, if possible, of burning the data on the outer parts to increase load speed? |
anyone?

Yes the inner dark stuff is what was written. If there were an anvantage in doing this, I am sure burners would be made to do so, which they aren't.

I know that for the Dreamcast this is true. Games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 are pretty small so I would create a dummy file and burn the game on the outside of the disc and I did notice a difference in loading. I’m not sure about the PS2 though. In theory it should load a bit faster since the disc spins faster on the outside, but the PS2 is a much more powerful machine than Dreamcast and you might not notice a difference especially on DVD discs. You can give it a try, there are a lot of tools for creating dummy files over at megagames.com, they are all in the Dreamcast section though.
