Can you play the game normally AND in offline mode without Hiijack's crack?

I cannot get the version 1.5 of hijack
 

Hi,

I used the bit-torrent appication in order to get the NoCD v.1.5 of Hijack but I cannot download it because the link is dead.

Can anyone send me this new version because with version 1 I could play my DVD version of Half Life 2 offline.

I loaned a DVD drive from one of my buddies, installed my new bought game, and installed the hijack crack as I had to return the DVD drive the same day. The crack worked perfectly with both HL2 & CSS. Later that day, I try to run HL2 again, but suddenly I got this "No disc inserted" message. I'm thinking "wtf?!, it worked earlier without a disc?" - I then tryed to restart my computer etc., and running HL2 again, but I still got "No disc inserted" message. I then tryed to run HL2: Source, which I hadn't ran before. Boom, it suddenly worked again. Not only HL2S worked, but HL2 & CSS worked again. Later that day again, I get the same "No disc inserted" message. So I try to do everthing I did last time, but I still got it. That day I gave up and went to bed.

So today is a new day, and a new try... I've spended the last two hours trying to get my legal copy of HL2 working again, but still I get this freaking "No disc inserted" message! I have tryed everthing listed in this topic, done everything I did myself the last time.....

All in all, I've tryed everthing, but still I get this "No disc inserted" message. Can anybody help me?? I'm running WinXP Pro SP2 - and for a notice, all hl2.exe files is 1.91 MB..

yep works fine the normal way with cd in drive...game loads fine...but when i use hijack i get the "this game is curently unavailable" error when i try and load hl2

Any way around the securerom or whatever protection is on the european DVD?!?!

I've bought the bloody game - and my dvd-r drive (pika-one) won't recognise the dvd - ?!?!?

Sounds like you are due to buy a new DVD player/burner! It will cost you even less than what you have already paid for the HL2 game! ;)

Somebody please help me.........

-I ve managed to create a working image with Games X copy and i installed HL2 from this image...everything ok till now!!!
-i have a valid steam account.
-i unlocked CS:source and HL2 from internet (with the help of some files already downloaded from a friend of mine).If u right-click on them (in "play games" on steam menu) and select "properties" u can see "Status:Ready to play" "Amount acquired:100%" and "Offline mode:Ready".But i was not able to play using this image cause of "Emulation software detected....etc" (securom obviously).
-i downloaded Emporio's fix, Hijack's dll 1.5 for XP SP2 users and Hijack's No cd crack (i dont know which version) and i apply them correctly i think!!
-i managed to play CS:Source correctly!
-BUT when i try to play HL2, during the game, when "LOADING" message appears, i wait for some secs and then a message appears, i turn back to windows and the game has stopped!!!!
The message is: "Source - Fatal Error : Could not acquire necessary game files because the connection to Steam servers was lost."

What have i done wrong?

You tried to circumvent the online activation and it is giving you an error ;), in laymans terms "GO BUY THE GAME". Oh and when you do, stop trying to create images of the game since SecuROM has that workaround blocked :). With Alcohol 120 percent (which is better than Games X Copy ) I got the same emulation error and will continue to do so until they release the new alcohol (that won't be for awhile though so might as well not even wait)..

there is a emulation problem walk around... :rolleyes:

Hi, i am new to this sort of thing. I am trying to get the hijack exe to work, i have extracted it to the steam directory and i have executed it from that directory using the Hijack.exe file. This worked for a day or so but now it tells me that there is no cd in the drive, exacly the same as if i tried using the steam.exe.
Can anyone help me please, i am running XP2 SP2.

All I can say is it seems to work for some people and not for others! Its nothing to do with Sp2 as I to have Sp2 installed and it has always worked for me in Offline mode! But I have never been connected to the net when I play. And I am still using Hijacks first crack! ;)

hmm maybe thats the problem then...maybe for hijack to work u need to disable yer internet connection...i think i may try that

i ve done all these u said...but nothing...
..blocking with zone alarm the appropriate procedures....
...and no internet connection when i try to play...

I have installed HL2 EURO OFF, i have autorized steam to take the 1st update and i have installed hijack_hl2-1.5 and Drac's fix. But Steam want to connect for create account or run with existant account.

1) Is it necessary that I let leave steam to internet ??
2) It did no possibily to play offline ? Or I makes an error let it go on Internet? :eek:

How did Steam know you had patched it? You should not have been online to play in Offline mode! I have never gone online to play once I installed Hijacks crack! I swapped back to the original files to update on the net, then installed hijacks fix again to play in Offline mode. ;)

When I read that post, from the person after the DVD crack, I nearly wrote exactly what you did. :)

Quick question, that is slightly related:

I plan on playing HL:Source once done with HL2. Just wondering, when I end up buying the expansions for it, the ones on CD at Amazon.com in the next week, will it work better with the GOTY edition of the original version or would the Source version run okay as well?

I'd like to use the original disc if at all possible since it'll need less BS to run, but if I use the NOCD patch for it, I can't have the music tracks playing too. Is there a way around this?

Oh well, hopefully HL:Source can run with them without any hassles. Assuming Source isn't as bad as most say it is, I'll probably just stick with it! :D

Strange but true.
I was happily using hijack_hl2, then steam updated half-life 2, and the wedge broke.:eek:
I was back to using my precious DVD for a week. Then just now, I tried hijack_hl2 agan, with no DVD and it worked!
AFAIK, nothing in the game has been updated sence it broke, so It seems that there is something more complicated going on!

I guess there's no need for a NOCD/DVD patch now. Thanks hijack for allowing the game to be played without the disc till this new development. :)

just a quick question, i have the hijack_hl2.exe and opens the steam program, but the steam just like to "login" and connect to the internet. i just want to play offline. what i have to do?

It might seem obvious, but some people don't realize that you need to make sure the internet connection is off! It won't go to off-line mode as long as the connection is on... ;)

On my end, I have to make sure that it's off when booting up my PC. Otherwise it seems to know that I have a connection, whether it's on or off at the time I start the game doesn't matter. Basically, when loading the game if it detects the connection, it either just hangs if it's off, or it connects to Steam if it isn't. That said, If done correctly it will appear that it is connecting, but you will get an error that asks if you want to play off-line or try connecting again. Choose off-line and it should work. Good luck! :)

BTW, I have an external cable modem. Not sure what someone with an internal modem can do in this regard!

From what some people say about the EULA, I would assume that there is now no need for the CD/DVD patch at all, and it would be safer just not using it. It surprises me there are many still looking for such patches, let alone people using the patch knowing of the update...

Ok, i have a problem, but i think i am not alone, but i will also ask it again:

I have buy the Collector´s edition of Hl2, but i dont want to install Steam or aktivat Hl2 with Steam. So i try the Target21 - Steamless Fix. At the Beginnig the Crack works, but one day later i will load a saved Game und the Game crashed and go back to windows. the Error says that he lost the connection zo the Steamnetwork. So i search in the net for a fix, but i dont find something!

Can anybody help me ???

allright people i downloaded half life the full version i installed it i used the hijack_hl2 and extract it to the steam directory now everytime i click the hijack_hl2 exe it connects then it shows the games i want to play i click half life 2 then it shows all this games and says that i need to purchase it can anyone please help me ?
