Pretorian, I just tried that in Alcohol 120% and it didn't work.

I get the same 'cd not found or authonticated' message. :mad: Are there any options that should be enabled?

EDIT: And I'm not even going to bother with antiblaxx, from what I've heard it royally screws over your cd drives... :eek:

I've had no problems with Anti-Blaxx. I'm guessing that the people who's system it messed with probably used the Delete Entries method instead of the Hide Entries method. Anti-Blaxx states quite prominantly that the Delete method is 'more dangerous'.

Or maybe I'm just using it wrong. =P

Yeah, but by default it deletes the entries when you start it up. Go figure :(

Hang on, if I was to create a system restore point, and if AntiBlaxx did any damage, would the restore point fix it?

EDIT: Well, everything seems to be fine. I chose the 'hide' option. I checked device manager and my cd drive is still there, as well as it being in 'my computer'.

Still a bit wary though...

well, i did the task as maxtor described it - only with a small difference, so i am gonna repeat what i've done:

- installed & patched DoW, installed WA
- renamed "Disk1Check.EXE" to "Disk1Check OLD.EXE" (this only works if installation is completely finished! ye have to wait till it tried to start once, but better don't insert the original CD, just let it tell ye "no disc inserted" or whatever, coz this will speed up the whole process, if ye dont have to start the game. i have recieved the message "WA is corrupt. Please reinstall DoW and WA" or something - ignore this, don't reinstall!)
- DLed the ALCOHOL-mini instead of the DAEMON-mini (so 30MB instead of 5MB)
- installed DAEMON (used the link on gamecopyworld.com)
- rebooted (necessary for DAEMON)
- when having rebooted, right-clicked DAEMON --> Emulation --> All options OFF
- right-clicked DAEMON --> Virtual CD/DVD-ROM --> Device 0: [X:] No Media --> Mount image ; then i chose the WH40KWA-MINI.BWT to be mounted
--> started the game with the W40kWA.exe (NOT with WinterAssault.exe!)

well, then my graphics setup had to be configured and i entered the game.
there was no problem.

Hi all!

For two days I've tried in vain all possible NO-CD solutins described here. I've mounted two different mini-images on a numerous CD emulating software. Have delited and renamed CD check.exe etc. etc. tec, but nothing worked.

Yesterday I decided to try one more time.... AND IT WORKED! Even more, I think I know what was causing it.

When the game lounched my firewall software went up asking if it should allow W40K:WA to connect to internet. Naturally I've pressed no. It totally makes sense, because Doom 3 expansion had similar protection.

I'm not sure it it is _The One_ solution for problems that lot of you are having, but certainly it is woth to try. If you don't have firewall, just disable or plug out network connection.

I found this "no-cd crack" on w w w . g a m e b u r n w o r l d . c o m. Because it's not a normal no-cd crack here a part of the readme:

"INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

This program is used to run Dawn of War: Winter Assault using the standard
Dawn of War CD - or no CD at all if you have that cracked/mounted/GameJacked!

Simply run the exe and change the config so you can run Winter Assault as a mod from within
Dawn of War. You won't be able to log on to the lobby, but single player works, as does an online game if
you direct host/join and EVERYONE ELSE playing also uses WA_ModMan.exe.

Run WA_ModMan again to restore Winter assault to normal"

Apply v1.10 Patch.
Apply v1.20 Patch.
Apply v1.30 Patch.
Apply v1.40 Patch.

Mount WA1.mdf (5355KB from gamecopyworld.com)
Play the game.

hey i've done exactly what u said....n winter assualts runs, but the problem is, when i try to run "new campaign" of winter assault, it give me this error "FATAL Scar Error - Execution Paused" .. and game become paused.

i can play only skirmish game of winter assualt, but unable to play campaign missions, please help :(

The crack isn't a crack, just an exploit... I would stick to the mini image if you want to play campaign and multiplayer. With the *fix* shall we call it, you can only play skirmish.

that new exploit thingy from *********************************** works fine, but only skirmish and direct host/join works. Which is perfectly fine with me. Cuz if u have original Winter assault, u probablly only want to run another copy of it for multiplayer, no?

Campaign gives Fatal Scar Error (probablly for everyone), but Direct Host/Join works fine.

So all u whi don get this to work read it carefully and do exactly this and it works !!!!! i all so get it work as an mod but campains did not work . but this way all works 100% thx man good job dudes.

Maxtor you're a genius... tried all other methods including the images and nothing but as soon as i changed the file name to Disk1Check OLD.EXE and tried to run the game from the installs shortcut an install box came up and requested both the disks... install finished game started... when i looked in the directory again it had created a new Disk1Check.EXE but the game now works all the time. Many thanks not sure if i need a no-cd crack now ;) Peace

When it asked for the discs, did you put the originals in????

i saw a no cd for winter assault. so it doesnt need mini image file any more. right?

If you can't find the disk1chec.exe in the main folder turn on show all hidden files and folders in the folder options window under the view tab :cool:

Ok, listen up. Follow these steps. i tried all above and no such luck. untill i tried this just to see what happens. And it works...

1. Install DOW fully. ( I burnt my Image to cd's. 3 of them & installed that way. shouldnt matter though )
2 Install Winter assault, but let it fully patch DOW then it will install itself. ( again i burnt it to cd first )

Now, go into the Dawn Of war instalation directory, Should be C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War.

Now go to Tools, Folder options, Click on View Tab and select show hidden files and folders. then apply.

Ok, look for a folder named Disk1Check and just change the name to Disk1Check OLD.

Now, go to gamecopyworld and download the Winter Assault [ENGLISH] No-CD/Fixed Image #2. Now unzip it.

Now I use deamon tools, So using deamon tools with all options off. Mount the file WH4-KWA-MINI.BWT.

Then the option to play the game should pop up. click play game as you would normaly. It will take about a minute for the disk search but it will work.

Make sure you dont have any other winter assault image mounted, of a burnt copy of the game in any of your drives.

Then using the mounted image, run it like normal.

Im a noob when it comes to this kinda thing, but i found out how to do it, im sure you can to.

Almost all of these methods work for me up to the point of it asking for the second disk during the disk search, in which case emulation, fixed images and burnt cds are detected. Anyone have any idea how i can get past this without using an original disk?

it never asks for the second disk....

When you try to run the game, and it searches for the disks and asks for the 2nd disk. your doing it wronge...

if u follow my steps it will work fine.. dont run it from the game installation shortcut. open my computer and double click on the mounted image u did using deamon tools of the file u should have mounted.

if u change the file like so and u click on the wronge thing. it will scan disks, and replace the file.. then u got to delete the old one, and do it all over again..

its not brain sciance people..

So does this mean that the crackers aren't going to release a no-cd patch for WA?

I mean this a great work around, but it REQUIRES you to run 32bit Windows. I'm running x64 Windows, so I can't use this work around.

From that i read in this topic...non of you guys had such a strange problem as i have had in the past days...I instaled DOW:WA, every thing patched well...i tried MDS and MDF but thos would not work...i tried the mini files from GameCopyWorld, and it worked sweet...I copleted a few campaigh missions, some skirmishes, even a deathmatch 1vs.1 with my friend via direct host/join...and then...i want to start my game...the little check holo disk appeared as usual...then it vanished and nothing happend...no erros saying "No valid cd found"...simply...it checks the cd, and won;t star...I reinstaled dow:wa, demon tools, i have even dowloaded the mini's again...nothing, still the same...if i use the mds, mdf files, or what ever other method it gives me the error: "No valid cd (bla bla bla)", and with the mini's it simply won;t start...(even in the task menager, after checking the cd, the dow:wa task vanishes...)

Any ideas? Maybe i need to re instal DOW?

Well, I registered to reply to this thread. Anyway, I was surprised (positively so) when I noticed how great the copy protection companies were doing. I didn't think they had any chance. Good job to them. It's nice to face a challenge sometimes :)

This is my solution, probably done before:

1) Install DOW
2) Install WA
3) Rename Disk1Check to Disk 1 Check OLD.Bak. Prob doesn't matter what you name it, as long as you rename it. This is what I called it though.
4) Mounted the small 4 meg something image from GCW in D-Tools. No emulation activated.
5) Too bad Imperial Guard sucks (don't let the Baneblade deceive you - they get it far too late). Long live the Eldar!

does tha nocd crack released by fairlight for dow GOTY work for winter assault too? because i think the GOTY includes both dow and winter assault. thanks

Okay, after messing around a bit with several tools, I finally got it working.

What you need:
- Daemon Tools 4.0
- wh40kwa-mini MiniImage from GCW (the 20,xx MB Blindwrite image)
- SR7.Stop 1.0 (get it at CDMediaworld)

First, start up DT4; leave all emulation options DISABLED.
Mount the mentioned Blindwrite MiniImage witg DT4.
Execute SR7.Stop and click 'Hide'; Leave SR7.Stop OPEN while you're playing!
Now execute the W40kWA.exe from the DOW:WA directory.

Thats how it works for me (Complete game, not only skirmish or so;) )
