forget the 'not a valid Win32 application' thing, that was my mistake and its fixed now :)

the file is called MafiaSetup.exe
im using Hex Workshop 4.2, there is no separate entries for the three disks, just one entry that says 'MAFIA_CD_%i' so i guess the %i stands for whichever number of the disk that is being asked for at the time.
i changed this to MAFIA, replacing the last 6 characters (_CD_%i) with spaces.

but now the file does nothing at all when it is run

if you have any advice, post it here, as this is a Doom 3 thread and we might upset someone :)

'MAFIA_CD_%i' probably only stands for the name of the function you should disassemble the thing to get an better overview (you can check data and code hex there if avaible!)

btw I never tryed to disassmble an installer or a setup*exe normally not a good idea!

I have already installed the whole game on my comp, no problem. Everytime i put in the firstcd though, it says insert cd 1. Could someone plese explain to me what the MSI, and hex programs do. I think that may be all i need to do to get it working. - thanks

the msi editing is for installing, if you read the thread you would see that its necessary because the game looks for DOOM3_1, DOOM3_2, DOOM3_3. if your disks are called something else, you need to change the file to look for the correct name. if you've installed the game, this is not your problem

you say you've installed the game. if you're using originals and it doesnt work i'd say 'hmm thats strange, take it back to the shop'. but im guessing you're using a backup, in which case i should say, 'forget the backup, run it from your original' but to help you run it from your backup i will just say 'crack'

if you dont know what to do with them you have no business downloading them.

go buy the game, conveniently you'll find the data already extracted on the disks for you :p

TOOLS NEEDED:

Windows?
Alcohol 120%
Nero?

Mount the game images using alcohol 120%. Go to mounted drive of CD1 and
select all files and folders CTRL+A then do CTRL+C.

Paste it all in let's say C:\DOOM3\

Now browse to mounted drive of CD2 and go to \Setup\Data\base. Copy all
the .pk4 files from there to C:\DOOM3\Setup\Data\base\. Now do the same
for cd3. Go to your CD3 drive path \Setup\Data\base\ and again copy all
the pk4 files and paste them into C:\DOOM3\Setup\Data\base\.

You should now have the following files in c:\DOOM3\Setup\Data\base\

game00.pk4
pak002.pk4
pak000.pk4
pak001.pk4
pak003.pk4
pak004.pk4

if that's correct unmount the images from alcohol 120%. Go to your
c:\DOOM3\ dir and double click on Launch.exe

Setup should now fireup and everything should go as planed without the
installer asking for addiotinal cd's. Now remember you can also burn all
files from c:\DOOM3\ dir onto a DVD and then make an image out of it or
simply use nero and image recorder to make an iso,nrg or whatever you like
;)
