Hello to everyone, im new here. I have never had mamy problems with games, except with this one. Looks like the game is suppose to work uninstalling the IDE drives and mounting it using DT4. So i must be doing something really wrong. Like Alexandro, i tried using Starforce Nightmare and it also didnt worked for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if u have a laptop its easy...u can just slide cd drive out then use daemon tools to create virtual d:/ drive and SF protected games work fine...then when u done playin just remove virtual d:/ and slide cd drive back in...if anything u might have to run sd4hide. dont have to disable nothing.
if ya got regular tower pc then im sure its a pain in the butt to remove cd drive...wouldnt know tho... i got a laptop...lol.

I disabled all IDE drives in the device manager, they don't even appear in windows explorer anymore, then I used DT4 to create a virtual drive and it says I have to put the disc in another drive. :\

Hi everybody.I think i found a way to play Prince of Persia the two thrones but it will work only for people which have only optical drives on the IDE controller.It is needed just to install Daemon Tools 4 and mark everything in Emulation and Options.Then mount image , install game , start game , reboot to install starforce drivers and here is the trick.After reboot you should disable your IDE controller through device manager ( not the optical drives but the whole IDE controller ) , mount image , start game and play.I will be very happy if someone try this method with other starforce games also.

Edit: I mentioned it earlier but here i mention it again with capital letters because it is important.THIS IS USABLE ONLY FOR PEOPLE WITH NONATA HARDDRIVES ( TESTED WITH SATA should work with USB and Firewire Harddrives also) You should HAVE ONLY OPTICAL DRIVES ON YOUR IDE CONTROLLER FOR THIS TO WORK

I have DVD-RW and a CD-RW . In devive manager it shows a Nvidia nforce2 IDE controller, and Primary IDE and Secondary IDE. Which ones should i disable? Is primary or nforce2 IDE controller of the hard disk?

Primary IDE is usually for IDE HD's. Unless you have SATA HD's

Secondary IDE is more common for Cd/DVD drives

Hi, I've just a question, turning off CD and Node with StarForce Nightmare is the equal to remove the ide data and power cables from the drives?

I'm asking it because I uninstalled alcohol and now I've just DT4, i mount the image, disable the cd and the node but it doesn't work.

I tried with the usb external drive trick too, but also this doesn't work.

If you want to play the PoP:T2T you bought without a dvd
do it the same way as SCCT, it is exacly the same but just easier
NOT Alcohol 120% BUT Daemon Tools 4 is is much easier and not that much work

it ain't that hard, just use your Grey Cells in your head to figure the rest out ;)

I tried to use SFN, Sf*ck, Sfcure, but there's nothing to do.

I Disabled the node and the CD with sfn, but with device manager too, but the game doesn't work if I mount the image in dt4. (I uninstalled Alcohol)

I've got a usb dvd also, but if i run the game with a burned copy of the game it says to insert the cd into another reader.

Right now, SF Nightmare is useless against StarForce 3.6.10, which PoP uses. The only way is to physically disconnect drives. I heard DT4 might soon be able to emulate IDE drives, no longer about SCSI, which the curent version of SF that PoP uses probably won't be able to detect.

Can you specify your problems clearly? Does it happen when you try to install the game? How much free space do you have left in the partition you are trying to install the game to?

i just tried the mini image posted on the site and it doesent work,and i cant be botherd messing around making a full image,so ill stick to my original until someone makes a good mini :P

the mini definitly doesent work because daemon toolz doesent even recognise the mds/mdf,it just comes up as corrupted image (and yes i redowloaded it about 40 times :P lol)

Hi guys, there's nothing to do..... To play the game i have to plug out the cd player (i'm on a laptop) i tried all methods but nothing seems to working...only to put off the power in the players....
And the mini image i think is corrupted....Can we contact the creator to say him to re-upload the image? Maybe it could be work fine.....

Well, guys. I'm new here and I just wanted to say that I tried nearly everything that could help to run PoP:T2T without having the disc in your drive and I read almost all the forums in the whole internet xD and it seems that the only way to play it is to BUY the game because it's really worth it. I did so and I just can say: "Buy this game!". I know that it sux having to pay, but hey, if one game deserves it to be bought, then it's this.

If you still aren't convinced, then you'll have to wait as long as you waited for playing SCCT. I hope I could help you guys to make a decision.

I know that most of you have the original copy of the game and want just this "always putting cd in and out"-stuff to stop, but there are few of you that just want to have this game cracked succesfully.
I think Ubisoft did good work in this game and the developers of Starforce have done their work right. Congratulations.

i've tested the game today - with win x86 the game will crash after launching.... disconnect drives are useless...

with win x64 the game starts normal by mounting the image with dt 4.0 - without disconnect any driver or disable ide controllers...

so it's seems to be different from each pc and OS version... so try ur luck :D

plz remember - i only TESTING the games - i do not play them.

ok i havent seen anyone here to be in my situation i think, so this is what happens to me:

The game will run SOMETIMES, like 80% won't work 20% works.

I use a complete 4gb mds/mdf image (no mini/maxi)
I have the IDE DVDROM unplugged, i use DT4 with all emulation disabled
I use SFNightmare and always press the same buttons even in the same order: Disbale CD, Disable CH2 and Diable Node
Then i run SF4Hide (i think this may be useless but i dont know so i use it always)
Then i start the game from the desktop shortcut.

Then it may work or it may reboot my PC.

i think in my case it might have something to do with the time windows has been running. if i restart and try to run the game it always reboots

can someone verify this??

i only get it to work sometimes after windows has been running for a while 30 minutes for example

i cant seem to find any explanation to what makes it work or not, and yes im 100% sure i always make exactly the same

The only I think I wonder, is why nobody in GCW test the stuff released before posting it. I mean, would be a good idea doing that and will avoid problems for uploading there useless stuff.

In that mini image u cannt even C its contents, so may be what lots of people R saying around the net is right. That mini image is corrupted. But in the other hand there is the possibility that obviously that's just another FAKE! :mad:

Hopefully a REAL mini image will be released soon. And only may be... coz' this ****!Ng protection (SF) is beign a really pain in the A55 :(

Coz' in mine that didnt work. It's impressive. If not even the BIOS is detecting the IDE Devices @ boot time, why the hell this ****!ng protection doesnt run the game. :confused:

You can disable it in the device manager IF you have no hard drives on the same IDE controller (eg if you have a SATA HDD) - Disabling the drive doesn't work, but disabling the IDE controller to which it's connected will.

Also, if you're having trouble getting it working, make sure you're using the right CD key... I think the European DVD version and the US 3CD version require different keys.

On a related note... Starforce protection is also preventing a gore patch for the European version. Outside the US, dismemberment is removed from the game, and the difference is in the game exe. But Starforce prevents you from changing the exe. I've got the US exe, but until I have the US versions of...
-The Starforce exe
-The Starforce dll
-The CD key
-An image/mini-image of the US play disc
...I can't work this out.

PS. With my IDE controller disabled, the DVD image mounted in DT4 with NO emulation, and NO Starforce blockers running, the game starts fine.

When I find out a game is edited, I return it to the shop and tell them exactly why I am returning it. I tell them it is an edited version and as an adult I expected a game that is not edited.
I then contact a friend in the US and he purchases the game for me and posts it over. Yes it takes longer to get the game but at least I end up with the 'full' game as it was meant to be. ;)
Until Australia changes some gaming laws, and brings in an 18+ classification then we are always going to get edited games.
Did you realize that Halflife 2 was very nearly stopped from being released here! This is because most other country have a 17+ rating on it and our rating system only caters for 15+. So if a game is not suitable for under 15 year olds then it wont be released. :eek:
Australia may be a great country in a lot of ways but we are very behind in some things.

P.S: I also have a good friend who owns the local game shop here and he can also import games from the US for me, but in most cases it is actually cheaper for me to buy them from my friend in the US. And yes I do realize I can buy it over the net (like ebay) but if you have friend in other countries you may as well make the best of it. :D

It's a real pain in the ass, I know... we really need an 18+ rating over here.

What I don't understand though, is that Two Thrones uses exacly the same animations as Warrior Within, yet that didn't get censored. I wonder whether the version reviewed by the ratings board was even the censored... I can see absolutely nothing in the edited version to justify a MA15+ rating.

But banning Half-Life 2?? That's just insanity...
I actually read some guy complaining that it was unsuitable for his eight-year-old kid, not because of the violence, but because of the "sexual innuendo". Claimed "Alyx is dressed indecently, and she kept staring at Gordon's crotch" :D.

To clear up some peoples problems, heres how to play the game with no cd/dvd

-Install image with daemon 4
-Manually disconnect all cd roms/dvd roms from your tower
-Restart computer
-Using Daemon, mount the POPT2T.MDS file that comes with the unpacked image
-Select play game from the menu that comes up(cannot play from starting the game from the game folder)

That is all...verified

You should be able to run it from the launcher app (PrinceOfPersia.exe) but not the game exe (POP3.exe).

And you can disable the IDE controller in the Device Manger rather than unplugging the cables, but I'm not sure if you can do this if you're using a ParallelATA hard drive (with a SATA HDD you should have no problems).

That mini image posted in GCW, should be removed as it's not even close to work. IT'S A TOTAL FAKE.

I havent heard of somebody beign able to run the game by using that fake-image. Doesnt have sense to keep posted that file there, saying that it's the mini image. The files in that 'mini image' cannt even being read once it has been mounted. :mad: So how the hell it's supposedly to work if not even the files can be read/watched once it's mounted.

If some of u guys, have managed to find/make a mini image for this game let us know PLEASE.

At least they pulled that CORE NoCD off Megagames... it was just a spyware installer with the GUI (and MIDI track) from a Technic rip...

Sorry, I should say I obtained the US .exe, as I'm looking for a way to uncensor the EU version.

I also recently got a hold of the US Starforce files (amir.exe and amir.dll), so when (if ?) a mini-image of the US version is released, I'll hopefully be able to work something out.

EDIT: I've never heard this said explicitly, but I got the impression from some people that my CD key will only work with my CD. Is this true? I used to wonder years ago why they didn't do this, and eventually decided that
a) It would greatly complicate the manufacturing procedure if every disc was different, and
b) It could turn into a logistical nightmare trying to get every CD into the right box :D
- one tiny little mixup, and the next 50,000 discs end up in the wrong box, shipped with a useless CD key...

If they've actually managed to pull this off, I'm absolutely amazed...
But if this is the case, wouldn't the correct CD key need to be included with the mini-image, which would make this fix illegal and see it removed from almost any site immediately?

As far as I remember, there were posts about how the Starforce CD-keys are related to the CD and the information (how reliable? assumptions? no idea!) went that batches of CD's are burnt with the same burnt-onto-CD key and in-the-box key.

As for being so cryptic about those Starforce duplicator tools, that's pretty nonsense. I'm quite sure the Starforce developers already have them and are working on defeating them in an upcoming version of their copy protection. :) or :(

Since the CD key is part of the copy protection rather than just the installer, I'd say in this context that just discussing cd keys is well within the rules, so long as no one asks for one, asks where to find one, offers one or offers the location of one.

I think SF checks the disc against this registry key every time the game is run. I'm fairly sure it keeps no record of whether the disc validated correctly last time - if it did, anyone could probably use a copy of this record to bypass the protection.

Yes, you can just type the key into the registry, and it works fine. But this is my problem - many people with the European version want this game uncensored, but if I get this working and distribute it as a "patch" (and I use the term very loosely ;)), their CD keys will no longer work. And I cannot simply bundle it with a text file containing the CD key and say "Type this into the registry", 'cause then it would be illegal to distribute.

I suppose any way I do it would probably be illegal, since however I go about it, the serial will still be sitting there in HKCU\Software\UBISOFT\POP3\Keys, able to be read... Though if it isn't mentioned anywhere in the docs, no one might ever find it.

And is it really necessary to match US .exe with US SF files?

Yes, I'm sure.
The only differences between the US and EU versions are POP3.exe, and the Starforce files amir.exe and amir.dll.
EU SF rejects the US exe.
US SF accepts the US exe, but rejects the EU key.
US exe with US SF and US key then rejects the EU DVD and DVD-image.

So i'm just waiting for a working US mini-image, and this should work. Though I'd really find a way around the key problem, so that GCW can host it...

I have no idea about Spanish but the steps are pretty obvious: 1) install Daemon Tools (with all options?); 2) mount the Alcohol 120%-made image of the game; 3) start Starforce Nightmare and click Disable CD-ROM; 4) start SD4Hide and click Hide; and something about using full images if mini images don't work.

The FAQ isn't useful but I'm going to translate it for practise my english :P

1. Install Daemon Tools 4 with all options
2. Mount MDS image of the game (if you mount the MDF file won't work).
3. Run SFNightmare and click on Disable CD
4. Now open sd4hide and click on HIDE
¡¡Warning!! Don't close any of the applications mentioned, you must keep them active!
Probably this will work with many games of UBISOFT.

I mean Splinter Cell, King Kong... and more.

PD: this is a general help, no mini-image, so you have to find it. Full images are valid too.

That's something I have been saying since a long time ago.

I dont know what the people on charge of GCW R waitin' 2 remove the fake KeelMan's mini image that has been posted there since December 8th. The image will not be fixed/removed by itself. Somebody will have to find out the way how 2 bypass the SF check. So in the mean time ... what's the point of leaving posted there that useless mini image. :confused:

@bob58: What CFG file is it that you need? If it's a file that belongs to the game installation - and you lost it somehow - then reinstall the game. Don't request original game files; forum rule #3.

As for hacking tools, you need to read their respective documentations and learn how to use them. You may want to read the forum FAQ on a few ideas (the exact usage of most tools is not covered, though).

@ash_2006: Read the forum FAQ on how to use mini/maxi images.

The only way imho how play the game without the dangers of scratching the original CD with the help of images is...

...unplugging the power cables of the optical drives before playing.

Whether the mini image works or not...i dont know. But when you were able to install the game you must have the original DVD. Just mount the image of the original DVD instead of the mini image.

It works fine on my PC.

Hello, you don't need a new whole image, you only need the .mds Part of the Disc, this is where the RMPS info is Stored, i have attached mine, but its for the euro Verion only, if you need one for the US-Realease, look for it.

You need to rename the file to the same name as your image and then replace your old .mds with this one (Make a save somewhere first, just for the case.

And the CFG which one talks about(Way to make a Copy behave like a original), this works only for CD-Versions

thank you! but i allready know that and i've used the starforce 3 settings of alcohol120% to make an image of my pop t2t dvd!so that doesn't work! but why did my image work after replacing the mds with the mds from Diranar? so i'm very interested how Diranar was able to made a working image of his original dvd?

Hello, first i have to say that not every DVD Drive out there is capable of making a 100% RMPS/DPM Reading. A Source for .mds i will post at the end of this liuitle Desciption

I Have 2 Drives :
1x DVD Burner Benq DW1620 - is NOT able to read DPM
1x DVD ROM Teac DV???? - This Drives makes 100% DPM's ;)

So if i want to make a Starforce Copy, i Put the Dvd in my Teac Drive and start up Alcohol 120%- Last Version out.

Since if you want to make a DVD Copy and select the Image Creating Wizard, there will be no Copy Profiles. We don't need them.

1. Simply check both Boxes : Read errors and Rmps reading(The Reading speed is not important now). Then click next/ok.

2. Alcohol will ask for RMPS/DPM Speed : This depends on the Drive used, both most people get best results on low Speed, i always use "4x".

Thats all, if you have a Drive thats not capable of reading the DPM Data, you'll get the error "DPM Creation not possible" , i would first try some other DPM reading speed.

If you need a .mds , because your Drive is not able too, go here :

so i tryied out but my drive isn't able to read DPM!:(
in fact of this i douwnloaded a mds file from copybase(no more problems with this side) and replaced my original mds file with the one i've douwnloaded!so far so good!but when i want to mount the image with daemon4 it epears:invalid image file!:mad:
did i something wrong or could it be that all tree mds files from copybase aren't working?:confused:

something is not right, i think i'm doing something wrong. i downloaded diranar's .mds file and i have renamed it like my .mdf file. i uninstalled pop3:t2t, used sfclean to uninstall starforce and i also used jv16 PowerTools to clean the windows registry of all starforce entries. i disabled the DVD and CD drive with sf nightmare and mounted diranar's mds on daemon tools 4. i installed the game, reeboted the computer and entered the cd-key and i still get the error message. i also tried with starf*ck, but it didn't help. can anyone please help me and tell me what am i doing wrong? thank you

I've turned here for support after Ubisoft didn't want to help:
Is there any way to disable the wretched system check app when loading POP? - My laptop has an unsupported card, and so I have to OK my way through this rubbish each time I want to play, & its getting more than annoying. (You can no longer directly launch the POP3.exe file unlike with previous versions)

I have the game running perfectly from a full image & MDS file using DT4 with no CD drives physically present in the system.

Cause this is Starforce 3.6 , IF you want to get your Image to run you HAVE to Pull the Cable (Power or IDE) OUT of your IDE CD/DVD Drives :D because Starforce 3.6 can re-enable the ide drives :p , Starforce Nightmare is only for Starforce 3.5 and older:( , for 3.6 s.o.

The same happened to me with Trackmania Sunrise.
I just waited a few seconds or even minutes and finally the game popped up...
Afterwards it worked within about 5 seconds each startup...
Guess it had something to do with the SFKey...maybe SF3 checked the key :confused:

POP T2T was a mess but now it is working on my PC.
I made a MSF/MDS with ALcohol 120 (newest version) and took the mds file from a german homepage.
And finaly it worked with DT4. You must unplug the DVD-Drive. It was a really hard job.
It took me two days.:(

But the main problem is, that you need a MDF file. Mine is too large 4,2 GB.
That would take a long time.:D

yes, but, u know, im neither english nor american, and i don't speak english perfekt, and i'm also no computer-specialiser, so i dont know what is meant by these things e.g. in sfn called master and slave and ATA etc.. and the other programs and tips u posted are also difficult to me...well, i found another tipp in the internet (and it seemed to be what i searched b/c i use DT):
- run StarFuck
-click on ‘links generator’
-at ‘protections’, select SF 3.4.63.2
-at ‘type of starting’, select EXE
-‘virtual program’, select Daemon tools
-have all the options on the left ON
-click on ‘specify exe’ and select ‘Prince of Persia.exe’
-‘path to image’ – select your mdf or mds image of the game
-finally, press ‘create a link’ and select desktop
but this doesnt work, too (and, uhm, i dont know wich .mds or .mdf, and the mini or the big of these)...

so please, couldn't you help me here and explain it for noobs? i know you are not pleased to hear that but i'm begging you :o

it's also known to NOT work on MOST pc's with this game

only way is to disconnect your physical drives

on the 3cd US release of pop3, some group released it with some utility to patch the alcohol image to the cdr media youre using to burn with. so you can make burn the 3rd image for the cd check. hunt the internet :P

Well, here is the funny thing, i finnally figured out how to get it to work, THE TYPICAL PROBLEM everyone else had. Ill post a whole step-by step once i get passed one more part. I run the game every time fine... it works the video loads up and well, i reach the part where he is floating on a piece of wood from the ship and then it goes on a bit like 30 seconds ( not too sure, maybe less maybe more). but then when he put his hand on the edge of the wall and STANDS UP STRAIGHT... My PC crashes. i tried like 10 times already same thing. ne idea????

Hi, im spanish and I don't have a well english... so, i get lost when you say the dinarar's image, i have downloaded it and mounted whith my original image, like he says.

First, i have put the POP image on my hard disk, next i have unplugged my DVD's units. next i have installed POP with DT4 and the image. Then I uninstall the starforce drivers, and there is when i get lost, im not sure what it means, if i can now put my dvd's drives without the starforce driver and burn the image with the mds file that he puts in the forum or mount the mds file with my image (the same name) with DT4 and i can play?? i have done all of this but it doesn´t works!! it says to me again to install the starforce driver... can someone tell me step by step HOW TO do it?? thanks

Short time back I have start "Starfucker 0.83 beta " and mount the image with daemon tools and all was ok- I could play the new Prince.

Today I will play Prince 3 and now it is not working --I see the protection message: "please insert......"

How can it be it has working!?

What I have changed on my PC?
-Only build in a new plextor DVD recorder (750A)
-and changed from nero 6.xx.xx to 7.xx.xx

How can I play again? Please any advice....

I have tried each method and i haven't gotten anywhere....starting from uninstalling the drives in the manager and using different tools such as starforce nightmare and sfcure. There is still no result it still asks me to insert the cd. Any other way of making this work without a cd???? O and i think we have established that the keelman mini image is corrupted.

ok listen, i had the same problem as you until i realized the programs like starforce nightmare and sf4hide r useless... Just disconnect your drives PHYSICALLY and it will work everytime with DT4... btw u need to uninstall the protection from device manager... go to view on device manager and show the hidden then go to

Non-plug and Play Drivers

you will see 4 starforce protection thing's... Uninstall all 4 and when it asks you to restart for the first second and third just say no and on the forth restart..

TRY That before u physically disconnect drives and it might work if not then phyically disconnect...

AND I still need to know why my game crashes at the same point in the intro movie... help someone?

I play PoP:T2T too, and I play it without removing my IDE cables or power cables from my DVD-RW drives. I use Alcohol 120% and DT4 too. maybe this trick would work.
First, make an image of the PoP game using alcohol 120% with an option of starforce protection, and then mount the image using alcohol 120% and then install the game. so the original game is only use for making an image. after installation is complete, shut down your system, remove all optical drives from your system, and then start up your PC. make sure that you haven't type the serial number of the game yet. disable all alcohol 120% virtual drive and start using DT4. make a DT4 virtual drive and mount the image. and then the game ask for a serial number, type it..and that's it. I play PoP:T2T with my optical drive still plugged into my system.
just for reference, my system consist of:
Athlon 64 2800+,512mb RAM,Albatron K8X250Gb Pro (nForce 3 chipset),SATA HD (Seagate 80gb 7200),Ati Radeon 9550,Lite-On DVD-RW.
I hope this trick would work for all of you.:D

Do you use the daemon tools 4.0.3 virtual drive?If you use the alcohol 120% virtual drive it will not work.If so just untick all items in the options of alcohol parts Emulation and extra emulation then in virtual device part of options set number of virtual devices to 0.Then mount in daemon tools virtual drive with all emulations ( of daemon not alcohol ) ON and try again.

it seems that in some cases there is no way to bypass this SF problem... I even reinstalled my windows to test this matter on a fresh install - the problem remains... I have nForce 3 motherboard, use DT 4.03... I've physicaly unpluged my DVD drive... I've tried different versions of sfcure, sfnightmare, starfuck, sd4hide and lot's of other programs... I followed different instructions from dozens of forums... nothing helps... the damn thing scans my image for several minutes and then states that my cdkey is wrong (allthough if I use the wrong one SF tells it right away)... :confused:

the only thing that I didn't try sofar is to shoot myself... :D that might help solve few other matters...:cool:

Your only problem is that your image is not good enough.If your device cannot backup SF3 correctly just download correct .mds file from www.copybase.ch and replace your .mds with the downloaded.Then just mount and play.

err... did I mention that I also tried to use different .mds files from multiple sources? I didn't? :D
well I did download three or four different .mds files (one of them was from that copybase.ch site you've mentioned, and btw that one didn't work with my .mdf file)... all the others with "correct topology" left me where I was - several minutes of SF thinking then same message about my CD key...

@Azagoth: You could try making your own full image yourself, from your original disk, with Blindwrite (preferably) or Alcohol 120%. See the FAQ subforum for a small guide about using Blindwrite. Good luck!

Hi Dudes!

Listen:

Ive done a Image from my Original DVD with latest Alcohol 120%

Then Ive downloaded a perfect .mds (for DPM) from copybase.ch for the EURO Version ... think there should be the US Version also.

So I was able to play the Game with DT4 (with DVD unplugged)! Good but not great...

But now Ive burned the Game and loaded it with my USB-DVD-Drive (with DVD(IDE) unplugged) ... AND IT WORKS :eek: :D ... its like i have my original dvd in the drive!

Hope it works 4 ya! I think you must have a absolut perfect image ... so better make one by yourself with your original dvd and use a clean .mds!

Erm by the way, please sorry my bad english (is it so bad??) ... german boy ;)

The same with GT Legends!!

Hi there... What I always don't really understand when StarForce is mentioned:

Ok... so there probably is no good way of getting past the protection driver itself, but the executable for the protected game has to contact the diver first, doesn't it?

So why not beat the protection there by making a no-dvd-cracked version of pop3.exe that just bypasses the driver?

Another way could maybe be a faked protection driver that games recognize as StarForce but that just does nothing but saying "ok" when asked. Has that been tried?

I mean... hey common I've always been the greatest defender of the theory that any protection made up by men can also be bypassed by men. You don't want to prove me wrong, do you? ;)

A good protection makes use of the data read from the copy protected area of the media. (E.g. if I made a copy protection for an expensive CAD software, I would build a cheap dongle that computes the sinus function - or whatever else - instead of software. Crack that!) If you replace the original driver with a fake one, you'll lose this data so that game will crash.

Try everything listed in the FAQ. If it doesn't work, you'll have to use your original CD/DVD. (Or ask the publisher about alternative methods but I'm sure they won't be very helpful...)

I see absolutely no reason you wouldn't be able to play with the original disc.

And you can remove the CD/DVD drive from a laptop. I think there's usually a switch somewhere on the side or bottom near (or possibly on?) the drive and it'll just pop out.

Who needs an intern Drive???

I have my selfmade USB DVD-DL-Burner and its perfect!
Silent, fast and no problems! Best solution in my eyes!
And if you want an intern drive then connect it via USB also (USB Cable trough the case and in the usb port)

Such a adapter cost around 10€ (Ebay etc.) or you buy a extern 5.11" case (around 20-40€)

hi all. i was browsing my pop3 folder today and discovered 2 quite interesting things (my version of pop is eu dvd):

1. file "POPData.bf" - there is a section "region" in it (default emea), maybe messing withit could help with uncensoring the game?
2. (which is more interesting) in file "Hardware.ini" there is section "UseBoneSplitting" which is "0" by default. maybe changin it to "1" would help with decapitation?

im not able to check if anything happens after messin with this 2 files because i cannot restart my comp and disable ide drives right now. could someone try it and write if it works? please... :P

Now guys, I have seen every one who have a NF3 chipset based mother board, doesnt require to unplug the optical drives if he or she wants to play through DT. Can anybody confirm this. I have got NF4 and it doesnt work with me either.

try this: make an image of the game using alcohol 120% and then mount the image (if you got CD, make 3 virtual drive using alcohol, and mount all 3 images), install the game, dont type the serial yet. shut down your PC, remove your DVD/CD drive, turn on your PC, disable all alcohol virtual drive and start using daemon tools 4, make 1 DT4 drive, mount the CD play image (CD3), and type the serial but dont play the game yet. after you type the serial, shut down your PC, plug your DVD drive back to your system and start your PC, if the CD3 image is stil mounted using DT4, now you will be able to play PoP:T2T without removing your DVD drive, like I did.

I think PoPData.bf relates only to menu text - in any case, changing the region here makes no difference. There's also a region setting in the registry, which makes no difference either.

I'm fairly positive the difference is in the PoP3.exe. This file cannot be modified because of the Starforce protection. Replacing it (along with the Starforce files amir.exe and amir.dll, and the game disc) with the US version seems to be the only way to uncensor it without cracking the Starforce protection.

Of course, you don't have a US disc... and neither do I...

So I'm just waiting on a (working) US mini-image.

Alright... Having well and truly waited the "reasonable" length of time outlined in the forum rules (two weeks), I am officially requesting a mini-image of the US version of PoP:TTT.

As I've mentioned several times, I need it for my EU gore patch... I really, really want to slice some heads off :D.

Is it Starforce causing a lot of problems, or is it just that no one's gotten around to doing it yet? 'Cause King Kong also uses SF 3.6.10.06, and there seems to be a mini-image for that now (dunno if it actually works though...).

EDIT: Downloaded the King Kong mini-image and... it's not a mini-image, just an exe which patches the full image to make it work.

There's a No CD for UFO:Aftershock, which also uses SF 3.6.10.06, but it's for version 1.2, so it's possible copy protection was eased off in a patch due to numerous complaints (wouldn't be the first time...). Does anyone know if any games running this version of Starforce have been mini-imaged?

hi. i've checked my previous advices and i cen tell this:
as for number 1 - messin with "POPData.bf" file (changin region) does the same effect as switching the european exe (5,44mb) with us exe (5,13mb) - starforce checking succeeds but the game wont launch anyway (after starforce window nothing happens at all), so i think that u dont even have to switch european exe at all, just the starforce files.
as for number 2 - bone splitting setting makes no difference for me at all :)

and i've been thinking that maybe switchin "amir" files with starforce other versions (or same versions from games already cra... cooked) would be a good idea?

and finally - censorship in pop really sucks and im really dissapointed with ubisoft's policy (not even a single word from them in this subject). Also that's not the first time they've made their game unplayable for some gamers due to "security reasons". i still remember copyprotection problems with XIII and that they did not respond at all (i had to use a non-official patch (not a crack, a patch to 1.3version) just to run an original game on my computer. hell, 'xcuse me for this offtop :P

@qrpiech: If you have a read through PoPData.bf, you'll see it contains nothing but menu text - no game variables or anything else in there.

Someone over at the official PoP forums got it running, uncensored, by replacing PoP3.exe, amir.exe and amir.dll with the US versions, and running the game with the US disc. So we know where the problem is now, but can't do any more without a mini-image (as I'm presuming you don't have a US CD...) Unless someone here wants to crack Starforce for me? :D.

hi..

I disconnected my cd and dvd drives.

i mount the image with DT 4.0 with all Emulation options on.

I installed the game with full installation.

I run the game.

It loads a few animation screens then my PC crashes.

PC restarts, I try to run it again. This time it asks me if I want ot run it in safe mode? so I choose 'Yes'. This time it loads all the animations then it asks me to create a profile. I type in a name and press Enter. PC crashes.

I noticed that some people also got this problem, but has anyone overcome this?

any help would be appreciated.

i think you must have hte latest display adapter driver and windows xp sp2 and the file system must be ntfs ( read the readme file in the game directory)

No my friend does not have the original disc...he only got the copied version from a friend and as well a lot of key which didn`t work..I tried a lot of things but as seems that i have to buy it :( Until this game it always worked to get a game playing, but pop seems to be a problem for me...Otherwise if one of you will suddenly have a solution for playing it on a laptop I would be happy!!

Well, the configuration of my PC is a bit different and maybe that's why I can play without problem. I do not have a IDE hard drive, intead I hava a SATA drive and DVD burner drive. All I did was to load the game image using DT4 and installed the game. Then I turned off my PC and disconnected the DVD drive from the main board. I started up the PC again and then started the game.

I played the game without any problem. The only problem is that you need to plug your IDE drive again if you want to use it, and while the drive is connected the game does not work.

Setup (what I got):

Windows XP Pro x64, with all current updates
nForce4 motherboard
1x SATA HDD
1x IDE DVD-Burner (connected to primary IDE controller)

Steps (what I did):

1. Mount DVD Image with Daemon Tools 4 (x64-edition)
2. Install Game
3. In Device Manager: Disable "Primary IDE Channel" and "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller", as well 2x Card Readers (just in case, even though they're connected via USB). Bascially, I disabled everything IDE, and everything storage related with the exception of the SATA controller and hard drive. Probably overkill, but at least it worked.
4. Play

Notes:

- For whatever reason, disabling the primary IDE controller in BIOS didn't work. Even though Windows didn't find the DVD-burner at all, the protection system still complained.
- Doesn't matter what Emulation options you disable or enable in DT4. The game with load fine regardless.
- No other tools used. Not that there are a whole lot, beyond DT4, for x64.
- This worked for me. It might not work for you.

Well atleast for me, that's not quite accurate. I play the US version with my image and it's working 100%:D (still have to manually unplug the whole IDE optical drive though:( )
For you who need the mds file for the us version of the game, I uploaded for you. Eventhough it's working for me, I can't guarantee it also work for you.
FYI I play with these spec on my computer :

- WinXP SP1 (fat 32)
- GeForce FX 5200 128Mb
- 256Mb DDR sdram pc 3200
- MB Shuttle AN35 (nForce2)
- 120Gb IDE ATA Harddisk
- AMD Athlon XP 1800+

I know it's minimum requirement, but hey... it's work right :p

It isn't useless. Create an .MDF + .MDS pair from your original CD and then replace the .MDS with the one in the package. There you have a full image that fools the copy protection.

You didn't state your goal exactly... A full image is not useless - it's just "non-optimal", so to say - as it does relieve you from having to use your original CD. That is the primary purpose of using backups; the (low) image size is only secondary.

Your not supposed to take your game to 10 friends' houses to try the game.

If you got it working without unplugging IDE cables etc then good for you it worked for you and your friends...

There is people out there who it wouldnt work for, so they need alternative methods.

There is never a 100% fool proof way, even cracks arent 100% working for everyone.

I also do not speak dutch but managed to understand how to dowmnload from copybase.ch.I will try to explain to you.:
1. Open www.copybase.ch
2. Put a tick to "Ich bestätige, den Text gelesen & verstanden zu haben. (Alt+E)" and click on "Weiter zur Website" button
3. After the site is loaded scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find section called "Copybase // Kopierschutz-Datenbank // Suchformular"
4. Write the name of the game in the field "Name der Software:" and click on the "Finden!" button.
5.The search engine will give you the results.Click on the item you want and you will see some additional information.
6. Click on the "DPM-Dateien" link in the additinal information.
7. A new page will be loaded.On it you will see all mds files that are connected with this item.They are easy to be seen because of the big numbers next to them.Just put ticks on the items you need , click on the "Selektierte DPM-Dateien herunterladen" link at the bottom and the download will start.

Don't bother, that version may be the newest; but is a year old, if it worked there wouldn't be much hassle in here.

only thing that works right now is unplugging. (something i wont do just to test see if it works, just use the original. sucks that i have to have a cd in the drive though... oh well) only think left to do is wait for the next version of daemon tools 4.5.

You can find the serial in the CD/DVD box; if you purchased the game online, the shop gave you a serial. If you have any problems, contact the publisher or the shop.

first and foremost..the use of starforce nightmare is not required..
follow these steps
1. remove the power cables of ur optical drives(CDROM,DVDROM etc..).
2. start ur pc and load the image into the daemon virtual drive.
3. select all options under 'emulation'.
4. run the game.

if it shows an error that the 'cd key doesnt match with the cd in the drive', then all u have 2 do is to unmount the image from daemon, and exit daemon altogether.
then start daemon again and follow the steps above..

the game usually runs after u follow the steps above and in the worst case scenario will not take more than 3 trails to start...

I REPEAT ONCE AGAIN...STARFORCE NIGHTMARE IS NOT REQUIRED
