Magic V is not perfect. Every so often, when you try to boot a game from the browser, it will say "Please insert original PS2 format software" basically, the red screen of death. Although this has only happened twice to me, the fact is that it still does it. In my personal opinion, Magic V is a great modchip, I have been very pleased with it after have owning a Neo 2.2 and a Magic 2-3.1 in the past. I know nothing about how the Messiah 2 Pro 1.33 or the DMS 3 works, but Im sure that they are great modchips. They will be my next choice. Just keep in mind that Magic V sometimes doesnt boot.

Does "sometimes" mean on the same game? same disc? or is it random?

It's very random, and its only happened to me when booting from browser. Its rarely happened to me and in my opinion it could be an operater error because its never happened to any of my friends. I've ran a few booting tests on it and everything booted first time every time when I took that time to do so. Its a very stable chip, and I have had absolutely no trouble with it other than that.

I just ordered the Magic V modchip and I'm wondering if online gaming will be an issue? Will the ps2 servers detect the chip, thus disabling gaming from the ps2? ex. Socom II

If I can't play socom 2 with the original cd life is bad!

You can play the game with your original disc. But you have to also have your mod in the off mode.

mr fixit ur a complete jackass why not use a messiah 2 just caus u dont know alot about them and u heard lots of fake **** on the newz forum doesnt mean messiah 2 is crap i think messiah 2 is one of the best mods around

magic V how good do u think they work u say it has very lil problems will it play games like freedom fighters true crime and splinter cell im wanting to get a chip for a v9 system and want decent chip for it for a decent price i can get mars 2 for 28$ and said to be as good as m2 but i wouldnt know but as long as it loads every thing i would be happy. But i might check out the magic V see how good and what peps say about it
