Well Alcohol won't back it up cos it's can't decrypt CSS.
What problems do you encounter with the other two programs?
Try using other programs (read the sticky topic for a quick list). Try using DVD Decrypter or Smartripper to rip it to your hard drive.
well i tried using smart ripper it seemed to work but when i tried to burn the VOB files to dvd using nero 5 is said compilation error?!
I backed up Jackass(NTSC) with dvdxcopy no problem. What error did you get? You say you used Nero 5 as well. There are tons of versions of Nero 5. What is the exact version?
5.5 of nero
when i tried to use dvdx copy express and x copy it froze my cd reader! tried to use the dvd drive to read but kept getting read errors.

When you rip it with smartripper is the total filesize below 4.38GB?
If not then you have to compress it to fit.
LOL. There are lots of 5.5 versions. 5.5.10.42? 5.5.10.20? Is your original scratched? And you mean dvd-rom not cd reader right?

i think there is some sort of special protection on the PAL region 4 dvd or jackass. no matter what i do it won't backup. when i try to backup using dvd x copy express or x copy the program freezes it only freezes it with this dvd!
What versions of dvd x copy and xpress are you using? And are your drives region 4 or region free?

1.4.1.0 of x copy
not sure about the drives but i've backup up plenty of region 4 dvds
Both are fairly outdated. I would try upgrading. I can help ya with that if you like.
