I've used clonecd for backing up a few of my games with great success with them all. however, im having lots of trouble trying to make a working copy of the game medal of honor allied assault. i also downloaded clonyxxl because i thought that might give me a hand, but most of it is still in german and i guess i dont have any aspi drivers loaded. if anybody could fill me in on how to copy a game with safedisc v2 protection (i think that is what it has right?) i would really appercaite it. i would prefer not to use something like deamon to read a .ccd file if possible with this game. thanks.

Download an English version of Clony XXL here (http://www.kickme.to/Englishclony)
Then read the FAQ (http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36666) for a guide to copying games.
You should check to see if your drive is capable of either perfect or near perfect EFM coding here (http://www.elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/writers/a.html)
MOHAA is protected with Safedisk 2.51 so you will need your burner to have "two-sheep" in the EFM column. If it does, then copy the game without AWS (or similar) ticked. If it has one or no sheep then enable AWS (or similar) and you may get a good copy. For now read the FAQ for a detailed guide and also read about the ATIP check in that guide also.

ok i checked those links you gave me ghost, and my cd burner did have 2 sheeps and i did get clonyxxl working. now i also downloaded alcohol 120 since that is a prog they recomended in that link.... i burned the game and i got a working copy but i also tried the old copy i had made with clonecd (that did not work), and that worked as well. so is the only reason these copies are working are because of the virtural drive that ach 120 adds? then i used clonyxxl to scan the orginal disk and it gave me some settings in the... "ccd4 profile-editor" tab so i saved those settings, and used clonecd to burn the cd with the new settings. when i tested this cd (without acl 120) it did not work. so... my question is, is it possible to make a perfect working copy of this game (medal of honor allied assault) with out having a virtural drive on my comp? and if not, then can anyone make a recomendation on a good prog that adds a virt drive (my acho 120 was only a 14 trial version). my burner is a lite on - 24102b if that might help.

I'm guessing that the reason behind this is the ATIP check. Briefly, every CD-R has something called an ATIP which contains info on length, dye, manufacturer etc. Pressed cd's (originals) do not have an ATIP. So with newer protections the game checks to see if the cd contains an ATIP, and if it does then it obviously won't let you play it. The problem with the protection is that only cd-writers (mainly) can read ATIP. So if a user plays the copy in a normal cd-rom then it will play fine because ATIP cannot be checked for.
In Alcohol's options there is an option called "Ignore Media Type" which is selected by default. This will allow you to play in a cd-writer (which is what is happening for you). Clone CD also has this - called "Hide CD-R Media"). You could always download Daemon Tools (search Google) which is a free program that can provide virtual drives, emulate protections, and hide cd-r media.
