could you give me a bit more infomation on your problem?

theres a whole heap of reasons

it only reads cd based games;no longer reads dvds or dvd based games

what does it do when u boot a dvd movie?
what does it do exactly when u try a dvd -game?

are these originals or back-ups?

what version ps2?
what version of modchip?

Like elkayps2 said, we could use a little more info..... With the info you supplied, I will take a guess and say your laser is on the way out......:cool:
