I can't play with my copy of HOMM3:the shadow of death V3.1, and I need information to copy Baldur's Gate II

there are problems with directx 8 version, so if that's your case that can be the problem.
The problem is that you can't uninstall directx so the only solution is to reinstall windows :( damm microsoft.

But if it's not your case what is the problem you have?, your game crash or it just don't recognize the cd?.
