TDK 420N Burner Problems

Running Windows XP Pro, TDK 420N DVD+RW, LiteOn DVD-ROM/CD-RW. I have AnyDVD, CloneCD, and Nero 5.5. Problem is, whenever I start up my computer, I get a message that I have a new device, however, I've had the TDK for over a year. Sometimes when I insert a CD into the drive, I'll get a D: not found (or similar) message. I have the Pinacle software that came with the drive installed, but still getting the errors. My brother had this on his computer before I did, and it worked fine. If someone could inform me on how to fix this, I would appreciate it.

TIA.
