Play SNES and SEGA games on PS2
Hi all
I'm new to the site and didn't see any threads on emulation for the ps2 so I thought I'd write about it and inform those who don't know You can burn hundreds of snes roms or megadrive/genisis roms to a disk and play them on the ps2 - even supports multi-player etc. To play snes roms simply burn the roms to a disk with the SNES-STATION utility To play Megadrive/genisis roms simply burn to a disk with the pgen utility. Naturaly these disks will only work on a modded ps2 but theres a way round this too! There is a exploit in the way the ps2 boots ps1 games, i won't go to great lengths to explain but what it means is that you can make a disk that will copy megadrive/genisis games to a memory card (obviously this part needs to be done on a modded machine) which you can play by activating the exploit with a ps1 game (game specific - you designate which games will do it when you make the disk) Once the games are on the memory card they can be played on any ps2 modded, or non-modded, simply by inserting the designated ps1 game. To make a disk of snes roms goto: http://snes-station.gamebase.ca/ To make a disk of Megadrive/Genisis roms goto: http://pgen.gamebase.ca/ To make a disk for putting genisis/megadrive games onto a memory card goto: http://www.0xd6.org/ps2-independence.html All guides and utilities can be found at the above sites. Naturaly roms are everywhere on the internet. I don't condone piracy so only use roms of games you actualy own - i won't be held responsisble for this information being used for illegal purposes. Good retro gaming fun - enjoy Owen |
