Lightbulb Backup Guide

Well I was thinking that a Backup Guide was now needed what with VLuka's guide 'disappearing'. So I have decided to make this one but would like to give credit to VLuka for his guide.

The Hardware needed, besides your PC, is a CD or DVD Burner of course.

The Burning Software you can use include:
Blindwrite Tools 5.0.11
Alcohol 120% 1.9.2.1705
FireBurner (Is a good bin/iso burner) 2.2.0
You might choose your favorite one but the above is a list of good tools that can help you with a perfect 1:1 backup:

Start with this
Download CDKiLLER:S Protection ID at www.protectionid.owns.it
and scan all the .exe files that you can find on you original CD. This will help you find out what Protection the Game was protected with.

SafeDisc 1x | a-Dilla LTD./Macrovision
It's an old SafeDisc version and it's easy to copy, base on bad sectors and digital signature.

For Alcohol 120%:
Use SafeDisc 1x profile to read the image.
Use SafeDisc 1x profile when you burn the image.

For BlindWrite:
Unchecked "Authorize the use of alternative read method"
Unchecked "Extract subcodes (if you reader allows it)"
Select image type as "Cue; BIN; SUB".
Click on Next.
Don't change anything on that page!
Start dumping the image.

When its finished, start FireBurner and load the Cue file and burn it.

Notes:
It's got badsectors, so it can take hours before it's done with dumping!
SafeDisc 1 doe's not support the Windows NT platform as good as Win 9x. So if you are on Windows NT 4, Windows 2000, and Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, you could face some problems with SafeDisc 1 protected games.!

SafeDisc 2x | a-Dilla LTD./Macrovision
A pretty new SafeDisc version and it's kind of tricky to copy, based on bad sectors and digital signature.

For Alcohol 120%:
Use SafeDisc 2x profile to read the image.
Use SafeDisc 2x profile when you burn the image.

Try to use a CD-RW disc. Your Burner might not support SafeDisc 2 very well. Using a CD-RW you can easily erase it.

SafeDisc 3x | a-Dilla LTD./Macrovision
Newest version of SafeDisc and it's kind of tricky to copy, based on bad sectors and digital signature, like the SafeDisc 2. But this one have a huge blacklist of emulater programs like alcohol, deamon tools, clone cd etc. So make shure you have the l8est if you wanna make a good funtion copy.

For Alcohol 120%:
Use SafeDisc 3x profile to read the image.
Use SafeDisc 3x profile when you burn the image.

Try to use a CD-RW disc. Your Burner might not support SafeDisc 2 very well. Using a CD-RW you can easily erase it.

!!IMPORTENT!!IMPORTENT!!IMPORTENT!!
WE TAKE NO RESPONISIBLE IF YOUR CONSOLE CRASH OR GET DEMAGE. USE THIS AT YOU OWN RISK!
THERE ARE RUIMORS THAT SAYS: IF PLAYSTATION 2 CONSOLE FIND A BACKUP COPY TO MANY TIMES
THE PLAYSTATION 2 WILL NOT FUNCTOR ANY MORE, OR NOT FUNTION PROPERTY!

Playstation 1 Disc | Sony Computer Entertaiment

For Blindwrite:
There aren't any god option to make a 1:1 image on Blindwrite Tools. So it's not recomended!

For Alcohol 120%:
Use Playstation 1 profile to read the image.
Use Playstation 1 profile when you burn the image.

Note:If you using an OLD Playstation 1 console, it's easier to make it play backup copies then
and older one. In every upgrade/firewirm, they make it more inpossible to make a 1:1 copy wihtout
playstation conlose detect its. And the instruction is base to help people with NONE mod-chip base system!!

Playstation 2 Disc | Sony Computer Entertaiment
About: A tricky protection. Can be SecuROM based or something else.
The laser can detect if the CD-ROM is black/blue or not. So in some Consoles there are also cd-rom color protection.
Like in the note, the newer/upgrader the Playstation 2 is, the more fix have they done to provent
backup copies can be played. So it's difficualt with OUT mod-chip base system.

SecuROM < 4.x | Sony DADC
About: Comming soon!

For Alcohol 120%:
Use SecuROM *NEW* 4x profile to read the image.
Use SecuROM *NEW* 4x profile when you burn the image.

For BlindWrite:
NOT RECOMENDED
Checked "Authorize the use of alternative read method"
Checked "Extract subcodes (if you reader allows it)"
Select image type as "Cue; BIN; SUB".
Click on Next.
Don't change anything on that page!
Start dumping the image.

SecuROM > 4.8x | Sony DADC
About:
Newer version of SecuROM. Nearly imposible to do a 1:1 copy.
There is a SecuROM 4 option in Alcohol, if you got a new and expensive burner and following the instructions you might not have a problem! But remember IT can take OURS to complete a perfect 1:1 copy!

To see if the disc are safe disc protection do this:
On the Original CD there a tiny printed text on the disc, says "Sony DADC" that's SecuROM stamp. So check your CD disc. (is near the hole..)

SecuROM 5.x | Sony DADC
About:
Newest version of SecuROM, base much of the mistake and technology on SecuROM 4.8x. Still nearly imposible to do a 1:1 copy. There is a SecuROM 5 option in Alcohol, if you got a new and expensive burner and following the instructions you might not have a problem! But remember IT can take OURS to complete a perfect 1:1 copy!

Like I said, the whole credit go'es to VLuka and his Guide!

How to mount a file in Alcohol 120%.

1. Start Alcohol 120%
2. On the front page, very much down near to the bar, find Virtual CD/DVD-ROM, basic it's only 1. And it have a gold disc on the cd-rom. That's the virtual driver. If and the red-metal disc is the fysical driver.
3. Right click on the driver let's call it X: and choose mount. Find your image/cue file and choose open.
Now you have mount the file.

Settings that is usefull for emulation in Alcohol 120%.

1. Start Alcohol 120%
2. Find "EMULATION" on the left side panel, and click on that.
3. Check all boxes you find. (it should be 3)
4. Find Extra Emulation and click.
5. Check all boxes you find. (it should be 3 there to.)

I haven bump in to any problems to have all the emulation checked. Don't think there is. Now you can emulate SecuROM discs and SafeDisc protected discs.

But remember you always need a good image to emulate. Bad image can't be emulated.

Emulate means that the game think your fysical disc are in the fysical cd-driver. To save time with out flapping out the fysical cd/dvd-rom all the time you can make a image and emulate it. That's what emulating is for!
