Breath of Fire 4 USA/NTSC Anti-Mod patch?
I've exhaustively searched pretty much every http site that google can point me towards, and I can't find a patch for this game. (USA/NTSC Breath of Fire 4)
I've seen a few sites that mention it and have broken links, and I've seen others that have links to PAL fixes or PAL2NTSC or even JAP/NTSC fixes.... but I can't get my hands on that blasted USA/NTSC patch. The problem is that it will play fine on my friend's stealth psx, and on my pc's psx emulator, but not on my neo4 modded ps2. It just goes black and hangs at the usual 'mod detect' screen. It does this for the American and Japanese (unpatched) versions, but not for any other game. (Patched JAP/NTSC works fine!) Can anyone please help me? Maybe someone out there has a copy of that patch archived or knows a better place to find patches...I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.... |

Im glad I read this post before I wasted another cd on this...
I tried to backup the disk too, and it loads, but then the screen rolls like the verticle hold is out on the tv... So basically, I need this patch too. |

kitharris x, you have a different problem than shadowstitch has. You need to use a pal to ntsc patch, ntsc to pal patch, or a pal/ntsc selector patch. shadowstitch needs an anit mod patch. You can get a pal/ntsc selector patch here

That shouldnt be the problem. I have the ntsc version of bof4, and Ive had no problems with any other ntsc games on my ps1.
I think its just an anti-mod issue. |

By the way, I did find a patch on the net that supposedly removes the anti mod protection from the game, but uh, dont wanna waste any more cds. So if anyone wants the patch to test it out, email me or whatever.
Also I tried the ntsc/pal selection patch and it didnt help any. |

Are you sure you aren't playing a pal game? A rolling screen is a good indicator of that. Is it in black and white?

It is an odd problem, especially since you are playing a ntsc game. Does your tv have a v hold setting you can change?

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I'm also in need of the BOF4 US/NTSC anti-mod patch. Is there one out there? I can't find it anywhere.
I've applied the two PAL/ntsc patches that are available and burned them separately, but neither also includes the anti mod patch. Thanks in advance! |
