Need help with Samsung SW-408B CD-RW drive

I recently bought a Samsung SW-408B CD-RW drive, sold as the Pacific Digital Corp model PDC-8832ei name. My problem is that this CD-RW drive is not recognized by any of the software that I have. This drive was shipped with NTI CD-maker 2000. This program gives me the message that it does not recognize any CD-RW drives when I first run the program. EZ CD Creator 4 (latest patch) shows blank CD-R and CD-RW media as audio media. Has anyone else had any experience with the Samsung SW-408B CD-RW drives? Does anyone have any suggestions (other than to return it to the store). PDC tech help is no help at all. Their auto reply e-mail is insulting to my intelligence and I have not gotten them to call me back. Maybe I should run up their 1-800 bills? Thanks, for any constructive help that anyone may render.
