Saving King's Quest IX

Hey everybody,

I wanted to let everyone know that myself and many other King's Quest fans have joined together and started an organization to try to save KQIX. (If you don't know about KQIX, you can visit the website at ***).

We feel very strongly that our best chance to save the game is through a letter writing campaign. If you care about KQIX and want to see it released, I strongly urge you to take 10 minutes and write a letter to Vivendi Universal Games. Let them know how much you were looking forward to the game.

I know some of you may have already sent an email to Vivendi. That's great, but we still need you to send a physical letter via the good ol' postal service. A physical letter will have so much more of an impact than an email. The emails are probably never seen by anyone except a couple of low level people who's job it is to check those email accounts. It's easy to dismiss thousands of emails. But it's hard to ignore thousands of actual letters. Physical letters will have so much more of a VISUAL IMPACT. Think of how those Vivendi executives will feel when the see those stack and stacks of letters!

I know some of you may have also signed the petition that has been circulating. We think the petition is a good idea, but really believe that a personally written letter from each one of you, rather than the same petition, will be EVEN MORE EFFECTIVE. In fact, the person that created the petition is a major part of our organization. Oh, and don't worry; if you've already signed the petition, it WILL be sent to Vivendi. However, we still need you to write a letter!

Visit our webpage for the mailing address to VU Games. Stop by the forums and say hello. Let's make it known that there are a lot of adventure game fans out here that want to see the game released. We need EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU in order to be successful.

Please, take 10 minutes out of your day to write that letter. It's the best chance we have to save KQIX!

I called for a replacement of a CD, cant remember which... And then the women says sorry Serbia is currently under international sanction and we cant mail this bla bla bla. So Im like WTF bitch how did I get the original copy of this game? And she says that its prolly just a pirated version and that I am goading her into getting the original. I say "You want pictures? ". And she says no, she is not interested in helping any pathetic Assholes like me and then closes the line. I called right after, but then I got this automated voice message saying that the call would not be accepted because of threats to Vivendi's employees or something like that... Bull****. My number is still banned to this day.

Hehe, you should have seen the chaos when they did the same thing to my friend. He called them for 48 hours straight and kept on shouting into the phone all this **** about their mothers, families, company, country, phone line, and underwear.

He was very creative, and the whole neighbourhood could hear him, so needless to say it was a very entertaining night

Cease and desist....I am not trying to be a downer, but those are almost never compromised. Bid for Power, Chrono Trigger remake, both had similar fates. Naming the project "KQ IX" probably didn't help either. It would confuse people if Sierra actually made a Kings Quest 9.

Good luck on bringing back the project, but I don't think that would help.

EDIT: and btw, if they still wanted to work on the project, then they should rename it and change minor details. Fans will still know, and new people will think it is a great "new" series.

Send the letter to 3 friends and/or game creators (including the folks at agdinteractive.com), instructing them to do the same. In just a few days, the letter will have reached millions of people

I'm writing to ask you to support an effort to save a fan-made computer game.

Ever play any the King's Quest games from Sierra? They were quite popular in the 80's & 90's, but were discontinued in 2000. In 2002, a group of fans got together to make a King's Quest fan game. Their intention was to make their game available to fans worldwide, via the internet, at no charge. These fans really loved this series of games, and just wanted to keep the spirit of King's Quest alive. They've spent their free time working on the game over the past three years, and were about to release it.

However, in late September, Vivendi Universal Games (which now owns Sierra) issued a cease and desist letter to these fans, instructing them to shut down the project.

Many of the fans who were looking forward to the game have joined together to try to save it. They've launched a website,***, in the hopes of convincing Vivendi to allow the game to be released. If you'd like to support this effort, there is simple way to email Vivendi. Just go here:
