Battlefield 1942 & Road to Rome backup
Can someone please help? I tried installing using a backup of Battlefield 1942 and then The Road to Rome. It errors when trying to install The Road to Rome even when you use the original disc. But if I use the original Battlefield 1942 discs and then use the backup of The Road to Rome it works. Has anybody else tried
to install both using the backups? |

Have you tried installing the bf1942 backups first but not using any crack, and then RtR ? It kinda sounds like the RtR setup checks the bf1942 executable or something.

Are you sure the backup of bf1942 installs and works on its own ? And what exactly does the installer of RtR do, does it give an error message, does it crash ?

The backup for bf1942 works fine. I played the game no problem. Then tried to installing RtR (first the install screen then welcome to the installshield wizard for bf1942 RtR then hit next and at the place where the enter your your code a "CDCode MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." EA logo) Using XP. Now when I put the Clone cd tray up, hide cdr media it works fine. Is there a crack out there for this to start without turning clone on? Has anybody else tried to run the backups? I always install using backups to mack sure they work.

If you have to run Clonecd tray to get it to work, you might want to try using the discs in another cddrive, NOT a writer. When you're using a writer, the copy protection can make an ATIP check. So try using a non-cdwriter in the installation. If you only have a cdwriter and no dvdrom or cdrom, either ask someone to lend it for a few moments, or just keep using the CloneCD tray util.

I know I said that it would install with CCD Tray hide cdr media checked, but it won't work. I was mistaking.

Now, are you SURE that you've got a good version of XP running ? Have you ever tried a 'repair' installation of XP ? It looks to me like there's a problem with an XP component or driver.
